I know a lot of people here think taking lessons is for losers or whatever, but I do take lessons for piano and guitar and vocal. I just wanted to know what courses other people followed.

For piano, I follow the Alfred's Library thingy. I'm on level three, because of a time gap in lessons. But currently, I've abandoned my book and asked my teacher to help me with My Immortal. I still haven't gotten it right...Anyway. My music school wants me to switch to the Lily Fletcher piano course after a bit. Does anyone know if its good?

For guitar, I follow the Guitar Playing Made Easy books. It sounds lame, but they're good books. But for some of the chords, they left out a note. Like the B in a six string G7 chord. For the most part, they're easy to understand and good. I'm on Book 2 right now.

For vocal, well, I'm learning Indian classic vocal. But if anyone's getting vocal lessons, can you tell me if you use a lesson book or course?

I go to guitar lessons, I take them because at first I touched a guitar and had no idea how to play.

But now I find it easy and I find bass easy as well, I've never played one though.

Me too. Lessons make life easy. Mr. Green

However, I still maintain that guitar chords are Satan. I hate them. I like playing melodies, but I can't stand chords.

I followed the Hal Leonard method for a while.
But I ended up getting bored, so my teacher decided to just start teaching stuff himself, rather than following a book. It's a lot more interesting, and I'm still learning a lot, so it's cool.

Particularly the F chord. My book has a simplified version. F, C, A, F. According to my teacher though, there's a different F chord which is like F, C, G# something something...

I used to take guitar lessons. The people there hated me, the teachers all gave up on me, I had to pay a whole lot of money for just like 30 minutes a week (which is good for just about nothing), and I was always too busy to practice and play the excercises right.

They were too boring for me anyways. I'd rather just learn my own way, using the power of the Internet!

Heh, I'm the other way around. I love chords, but my lead isn't worth shit. Which is why I'd rather just play rythm and sing along.
