Hush, dear

Hush, dear

Silence gently wrapped around my skull,
hugging slightly. It’s just too bad that the
constant pressure hurts my head.
A pantomime of dreams and nightmares
you never spoke danced upon my iris.

Why paint the entire rainbow when all
you want is to describe but one color?
This communication is far too complex.
Let words seep onto paper and paint me
a landscape of explanations instead.

In the void of interpretation I fall,
ending up smashing my mind to sharp pieces
on misunderstanding’s rocks.
This ragged aura of mine bleeds hope when
it no longer can understand or cope.

When the pause between noises from your mouth
is all that my ears are willing to grasp;
only confusion will met you in response
to that which can be read on your lips.
Such a sad scenario for soul mates.

If only there was time to listen to
the whisper between our hearts perhaps we
could understand each other.
So why not let them murmur poetry,
and let clumsy limbs rest from transmitting.

Or you could just simply draw me a heart
and that would be
everything you ever
need to say.
