OK! Well, no, no, no. I disagree.

So what are you're views on the matter anyway. You really don't even want to think about the possibility of their appearance or the way they cope with our planet or their possible system of hierarchy because the possibilities are infinite. What do you just not think about it? You have to have some vision of how they could operate, or do you just not want to think because you're probably going to be wrong. Hey, you proved I'm wrong.

I think intelligent life does exist, simply because it exists here and the universe is so big, I think that somewhere else the same could happen. However, its just as likely that there might not be any life out there. We just don't know. If you asked me what an alien looked like, I'd probably describe something out of men in black just because thats the typical view we have of aliens. But I also know thats totally irrational, because we have no idea. I do think about it, I do alot. I love studying space, but I don't like making uneducated gusses. I think we should work more on discovering new things so that we have the facts to base those gusses on.

I believe we'll never find out enough to make any accurate guess about other life forms. But hopefully that's not true and life isn't evenly dispersed and we are living in a life hot spot of our galaxy. Even if the nearest stars are some four light years away or whatever.

I also think that people do not appreciate the true scale of not even the universe, just our solar system. On a scale model, for the Earth to be the sixe of like, a pea or something the solar system would probably streach forty miles long. It is a massiveness that some people always fail to grasp. (Thanks to those simplified diagrams we got in promary school. If our universe were arranged as such, we would surely be heading right towards our sun and within maybe a half hour of this sudden move in direction, all life on Earth would shvirel up and die and the Earth would begin to melt. But don't tell that to those little kids.)

Thats cool that you dad has done all that, but hes just one person. Many biologists believe in evolution, but there is a difference between believing in something and knowing it to be a fact. Its called the theory of evolution for a reason, not the law of evolution. You can not prove evolution, just like you can't prove creationism. They oppose each other and its a matter of opinion as to what you believe. Some people believe in both. Right now its just what you choose to believe.

how's it goin? i know this thread is kinda dead but I needed to revive it to answer this...

Kurtni,...evolution is fact. End of story. Everything we try to explain with evolution is happening that we can probably both agree on. Evolution and the theory you are talking about is simply what we call it. A theory is nothing more than a set of postulates to explain a given natural phenomenon. It can never grow to become a law...that is something completely different. It can only shrink to become a hypothesis when the evidence and postulates fail to explain a new piece of data that arises from observations. Then the theory is re-worked to fit with the new data. For more info on this I turn you to Wikipedia. Of paticular intrest is this little tidbit:

It follows from this that for scientists "theory" and "fact" do not necessarily stand in opposition. For example, it is a fact that an apple dropped on earth has been observed to fall towards the center of the planet, and the theories commonly used to describe and explain this behaviour are Newton's theory of universal gravitation (see also gravitation), and General relativity

I love talking about evolution and we can always start a new thread if need be. Sorry is reviving this offends or just ticks off anyone. I felt that this needed to be said.

Evolution is fact. Like I said before I have obsereved the majority of lupins on a river bank one summer being white, and the next summer blue. Evolution.

there's an algebraic expression/equasion that expains all this, isn't there?
When i find it, I'll post on here =D

No algebraic expression in the world can say whether or not extraterrestrial beings exist. There are way too many variables. You'll end up with an answer x.

I do believe in Aliens, I have so many books on the subject. I wouldn’t mind having a job in Area 51. If not I could work for NASA. That would be cool!

Sorry, no. Its called the THEORY of evolution, simply because we can't prove it. If you choose to support that theory thats your own choice, and I do too. But Im not going to treat it as a fact when it hasn't been made a scientific law. Very Happy
