I searched and all I could find was a thread on "The Hogfather", so I thought I would make one for discussion of all the books and the forthcoming Sky One production of "The Colour of Magic", the first Discworld novel, starring David Jason (Del Boy/Frost) as Rincewind, Sean Astin (Samwise from The Lord of the Rings) as Twoflower, David Bradley (Filch) as Cohen The Barbarian and Christopher Lee (Saruman/Dracula) as the narrating voice of Death.

More info can be found at

The Discworld is the fictional setting for all of Terry Pratchett's Discworld fantasy novels. It consists of a slightly convex disc resting on the backs of four huge elephants which are in turn standing on the back of an enormous turtle, named Great A'Tuin, as it slowly swims through space. The Discworld is a fantasy land in the Tolkien and Brothers Grimm mould, complete with witches, wizards, dragons, trolls, and dwarfs; however, over time it has largely evolved into its own distinct culture, as its denizens find more sophisticated ways to outgrow their narrative conventions. The Disc is heavily influenced by magic and, while having similarities to planet Earth, it (generally) conforms to its own laws of physics.

I also encourage people to discuss their favourite books, characters, etc. I am reading the books in order, and am currently on Guards! Guards! Which is pwning my ass, as I love dragons. I'd say my favourite character is either Rincewind, Death or Granny Weatherwax. Its hard to say.

What about you?
