Two months have gone by
No letter or phone call
He sleeps in a stiff bed looking up at the ceiling
Bars on the windows endlessly repeating
They told him just three days...
But he shoulda known better
Cops always lie
They take a course in the latter
He forgets the time the date and their faces
Its like he stands on a paper-
Sharpie's eraser.
He watches their faces become nothing but fiction...
His life becomes nothing but court dates and probation.
He sits in that wood chair looking up at the old man
Taking his freedom-
His breath and his sanity
He's chained to this chair
Just barely eighteen...
Looking at no less than 20 in prison.
His sister detests him and pledges an oath with a lie
She claims he's a danger to everyone's lives
He's looking at her pain stricken and dead
Malnourished and tired
Knowing nothing will ever be the same
She's said what she said
And his word has no value
The law hears nothing but the voice of a liar
His mother just looks, hate and deception
He wishes to yell and scream and tell her its not true
But to her I'm a liar
Another month passes by
No bad behavior.
He opens his eyes believing its over.
One Monday morning he stepped in with the fallen
A woman with black hair tells him his options
He listens for hope and finds it in lies and deception
Two misdemeanors or trial by a jury
He steps in the courtroom handcuffs and shackles
The District Attorney reads him his dead rights
The judge thinks he's a lost cause and pleads 25 to life
But as life doesn't kill what it can't choke
The boy is let go and he can go 'home'
He couldn't believe it
He forgot how to smile
Jail cells and County will tell you the reason
He walks with a black bracelet on his left leg
Tracking him home school and work
He shows them he's no future murderer
While he dies at the insults
The saddest part is they made him a monster
Try as he may
To talk to his brother's
They'll always ignore him
Say no as their answer
Encased in a square with nowhere to escape
He loses himself
In old memories and laughter
But those memories are gone replaced by sadness and anger
They've made him the villain of the story that was his.
Since from the beginning he's been the protagonist.
This is the diary and life of a claustrophobic.
