You wouldn't ride your bike or skateboard around town [not unless you had no respect for other people's safety] so why should you use heelys in a crowded place?
I used to ride my skateboard or my bike into town. I respect other people's safety. What's wrong with riding your skateboard into town. This is a genuine shock to me when I spent my entire childhood thinking it was OK to do that in the city, and all of a sudden being told it isn't. It's like my parents telling me to play in the street and all of a sudden realising you shouldn't.
You skated in an indoor shopping centre? Because I can understand if it's on the street because then it's easier to control where you're going and stuff, but inside there are like, really slippery surfaces which could easily make you lose control.
Around where I'm live you have to walk around our shopping centre, and that's always made sense to me
No I thought you meant outside in general like on the curb. Like you can only skate around your house. I still think that in comparison with skates, heelys are made for indoor use and are safer to use in a mall even on a slippery surface.
then i really do think the bann is needed
or build a heeley park LOL! (it would work!)

A kid wearing one of them ran into me yesterday while I was at the mall. And then he rolled into a wall because he couldn't control them.
i hate little kids in town centres travelling on anything with wheels...just walk and stop complaining.

I really don't think they should "totally" ban Heely's. I was in school and a teacher sent me to an AP's office for wearing them (without the wheels). I can understand banning them with the wheels,but without the wheels is just ridiculous. so kids who pay $98.76 (how much mine were) are not even getting to use them because they are pretty much banned in every place they go. Where I live they are banned in places such as;
Malls
Schools
Wal-mart K-mart Kroger .etc
Certain neighborhoods with; un-smooth roads,cars that pass by often .etc
places you can;
Parks,Skate parks .etc (and there isn't a park for 20 miles )
so you see Heely's are even being banned without the wheels,thier is no real danger if you don't have the wheels in them.And I don't see any kind of reason to ban them without the wheels,but with the wheels there is a danger and a reason for them to be banned.

Buy them!
And besides It doesn't even take that long to learn how to use them correctly.
90% of all the kids that get in accidents are all ignorant and are younger than 12

they look dumb
the only people that wear them are 7-11 year olds, and they just zip through, totally regardless of others. It's just really obnoxious
they're more a of a danger to others than themselves

I bought them when I was 11 And I'm 14 and I havn't worn them in a year
But when i did wear them,I never once got into an accident.
But some guy in the mall called security on me and i'm all like "wth dude."
I never had a pair, but they do look stupid. I mean they're not really like roller skates. You can't skate on them from more than acouple of seconds anyway. They seem pointless.

I don't think this thread was intended to debate whether or not heelys look fashionable or not.

There was a kid in our local shopping centre who had wheelies and was racing about on them, a little kid got crushed under the person. Now the kid has brain damage.
Heelies are ok for certain areas, say if the goverment built a smooth area like a skate pak.

Waste of money to be quite honest. I thought this little fad was dead and had moved onto the elementary schools, but I guess not.
They should be banned. I had a friend like 3 years ago who was using heelys in a grocery store, he slipped, and slammed his head, and because of the bleeding in his brain he now gets seizures. One of my little kid neighbors was plowed over by some idiot on those and he broke his arm.
You'd think we could just stick to roller blades or something.

They're banned?
YES!!!
I'm glad. Whenever I see a kid rolling around on those things I really have the urge to trip them up or just smack them in the face.

if you're gonna wear them, be a person who is responsible enough to control themselves and not give other people brain damage... or other bad injuries.

Thanks.
They're annoying and a hazard to others. My kids will never have a pair (although I won't be having kids anytime soon so they will be old news by then). Banned them I don't care I'm too old to wear them anyway.
