Coping with your Sexual Orientation

As a hermaphrodite? Yes, but I wouldn't classify that as a sex, more as a genetic mistake.

1.-Why does Society make it very difficult for people to admit that they are homosexual? Society makes it difficult to be homosexual [or any other sexuality] because it's different. Not only does this go against most of the population's morals, it goes against religious morals as well. People preach about how the bible says you cannot lay with the other sex. I think that's the main reason why it's not accepted very easily in today's society.

2.-Do you believe that Heterosexuals should only be accepted? No, of course not. I believe we are all created the same, and no matter how different you are than others, you should be treated and the same.

3.-Do you think that Homosexuality is a "Disease" or that a person who likes someone of the same sex, has medical problems? No. Some people think differently than others. Even if you are considered 'straight' you can have medical problems. I don't think that every homosexual has medical/mental problems.

And about the Melanie situation:
If I were her, I'd come out and say I was a lesbian. The doctor is not in the position to criticize or judge their patients.

Plus, you should always be honest with your doctor.

Dude. How can you be born transsexual? They put male or female on a birth cert cos biologically, you're one or the other, at birth anyway. Even if there was some sort of 'hybrid' sex thing going on, it would be, biologically speaking.. a mutation, or something that was not designed by nature. I did Sexual Genetics in university, and life has evolved to have only two sexes. And two sex genes.

Well....you do have a point on when you are born, you are either male or female, but then you grow up and then you decide whether you want a penis or a vagina or both

1. The only people I've seen make a fuss about my sexuality are old people. Nobody else cares. Old people make trouble because they grew up with different views.
2. Of course. And the next generation should be brought up without sexual expectance.
3. No. I don't think this needs any more explanation.

Also, I should note that even though I have a boyfriend, I identify as a lesbian. Maybe 1/100 people I like are male. Just be wary of the labels.

Actually I read an article on a science website two days ago, basically proving that people are born gay. They said the lesbian brain is very similar to a heterosexual male's, and vice versa. They also said that hetero males and lesbian's right side of the brain is stronger, and hetero women and gays have a stronger left side.
so it's not a disease, or a medical problem. Pretty much their brain is in the wrong gender body. But some people are fine with it, and those who aren't, get sex changes.

It's a genetic difference. But it doesn't impair them to do anything.

I'm actually pretty frustrated about my sexuality. Some people ask me if i'm a lesbian, but since I don't know myself I just answer "only on a tuesday".

Personally, I don't "get" sexual orientations. I mean, people don't make a fuss if you like people with long hair better than short hair, or people with certain colours of hair more than others, but they do moan if you like a specific gender.

So basically, I don't see what the fuss is about. Starting an argument about you liking girls and not boys is as stupid as starting an argument about liking strawberry ice-cream and hating chocolate ice-cream

She should only tell her docter if she feels comfortable but she should definatly tell her partner & have her checked. Be it checked by her own docter or Melanie's, or at a Clinic.

I don't particularly like the fact that you have to "choose" a sexual orientation either. I think that confining yourself into a box never really helps anyone, it only hurts people. However i think that society forces us to box ourselves and have a sexual orientation. I am dating a woman, whom I'm madly in love with by the way, and before me she dated men, and now she is forced to put herself into a box and call herself gay. And she truly doesn't think that that describes her. But when she says she isn't people don't understand. Especially the people that should be there for her the most like her parents and friends.
