Posts: 11 | March 24th, 2011 at 11:52pm Hi. I am new to the messageboard. I joined because i wanted to find people who may appreciate a band for similar reasons to myself. I am 24 years old and have been a Green Day fan since i was 15. After a few years i got into different bands and forgot about Green Day. But then American Idiot came out and took the lid off of it for me again. But i grew up in a small town and the social groups i mingled with deemed it uncool because the album was "too popular"! I wasn't THAT popular so i made compromises to keep people hanging round, including compromising my music tastes. Last year i went through some REAL heavy stuff and i was losing a lot, including who i really was. During this low period i found an old .avi file on my PC of Green Day playing American Idiot on VH1 Storytellers. It was the right sound at the right time. IT BLEW MY MIND! I re-assessed my whole life based on that feeling. I moved out of my hometown and started a new life. I am the happiest i have ever been and Green Day's 8 studio albums, any live shows i can get my hands on, and the Foxboro Hot Tubs was the EXCLUSIVE soundtrack to it all! Green Day are not just a "band" to me. They are the soundtrack to my real inner self! Thats not to say i don't love other bands, but Green Day is like a best friend i visit on a daily/hourly/almost per minute basis! |

i'm punk rock-ish now and not country haha
so they changed me... a lot.
in a good way. if it werent for them id still be listening to country music and id be nowhere! but yeah i love them! |

Posts: 1 | March 30th, 2011 at 08:07pm Everything! i never listened to rock, metal, pop, rap.. pretty much anything but country! i thought rock was stupid... i was also really depressed before i heard of green day. they showed me what REAL music is, i mean thier music is so inspirational and it really speaks to me. they are amazing people and i love them no matter what! i care so much for them and will support them forever and so on <3 they have taught me so much! viva la Green Day!!! |

I can listen to a Green Day song,and my day will be completely turned around
like I'll be really sad,and maybe even crying,then I'll listen to them,and I find it so hard not to smile while listening to them
I have had thoughts of suicide (still do sometimes),but then I relize,one thing I'll never be able to do again is listen to Green Day,if I follow through with it
They give me a reason to live,and make me feel better
And thats just one of the many things they do for me |
