Green Day news & updates
Happy Anniversary
Billie Joe and Adrienne are celebrating their wedding anniversary today. The two first met while Green Day was on tour in 1990 at a small venue in Minnesota, and married in 1994. After remaining together for 14 years, they certainly deserve a happy anniversary.
In other news, Rolling Stone has published an article about musicians and their thoughts about the 2008 Presidential election. Billie Joe has two quotes in the article:
"I don't want it to turn into a cult of personality. He's not
Magic Man. The great thing would be if he could lead by example and
inspire people to get their own shit together."
"The night Barack Obama clinched the Democratic nomination for president, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong found himself experiencing an unfamiliar emotion: hope. "After his acceptance speech, I have to admit, it took me an hour to get the lump out of my throat," says Armstrong, whose band's American Idiot was the defining protest album of the Bush years. "Obama inspires people, and this country needs inspiration. People are jaded, pissed off and embarrassed.""

In other news, Green Day was mentioned in an LA Times interview with Dexter Hollard, the front man of The Offspring. A friend of his present during the interview made some feisty comments aimed at American Idiot.
"Green Day, rising above their dookie past, delivered a career masterpiece in 2004 with a concept album that sold 5-million copies, won rave reviews and even earned them a Grammy trophy for record of the year. Don't think Holland didn't notice. "I would not mention those two words to him," one of his hangar buddies says, " 'American' and 'Idiot.' I think he's heard them enough."
Simpsons Movie on TV
For those of you who were unable to see Green Day's appearance in The Simpsons Movie while it was in theaters, it will be airing multiple times on HBO. For a complete listing of all the times it will be showing, you can check out VH1's artist schedule for Green Day.
Green Day was mentioned in Entertainment Weekly. American Idiot was named the sixth new classic album. There were no pictures or long articles, but a short paragraph that read:
"Forget the Sex Pistols. Punk didn't truly go mainstream until these three snotty, snarling post-adolescents broke through to become arena-filling icons; and with songs like 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams', they proved that a little maturity can be a good thing."
