She Always Was His Girl, chapter 48

After coming home the day of the run-in Billie Joe had had with his son, Joey, when he had went to his house that he formerly lived in to talk to Adrienne he had been rather depressed and mad at the world. The only one who seemed to make him feel better was Katie, and he was satisfied with that.

She made his world complete.

On a late Saturday evening in mid-March, Billie Joe and Katie were laying on the couch together, relaxing in each others arms, and enjoying each others company. Since Carey and Cameron were at their father's house for weekend visits, Katie and Billie Joe had the entire house to themselves to do whatever the fuck they wanted.

Katie had spent a good hour or so kissing the line from the center of Billie Joe's chest to his belly button, and oh God, how that turned him on! She positioned her body so that she could reach his lips and began kissing him. Billie Joe let his hands and arms wander around her small body to pull her as close as possible to himself. From there, after a heavy, feverish make-out session, he removed her tight, scarlet red tank and her pajama pants from her to reveal her naked body in its entirety.

He rolled over so he was the one on top, and began kissing every little patch of bare flesh he could find. He looked at her a long moment and placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I'm cold."; She said shivering slightly.

"Don't worry about that sweetie. You'll warm up here in a second. I can promise you that."; he replied.

A devilish grin spread across his face, and with that, he removed his clothes so that he was equally as naked, and ravished her once more. And every time they made love, it felt like they were doing it for the first time. It was almost like their relationship had become even more special and meaningful, and that was fine by them.

Billie Joe's upcoming divorce was the big headline on VH1, MTV, and all of the celebrity gossip magazines. Several rumors were flying around about the reason of it. One of which was that he was abusive to Adrienne, but that was abruptly put to an end by Green Day's manager.

The big concern for the musical trio was that it would affect their fans, but surprisingly, it really hadn't. It wasn't that big of a deal for the most part, and that was a big relief to Green Day.

Billie Joe and Adrienne had already started the paperwork, and Joey had remained on strike. He wouldn't speak to either of them unless completely necessary and stayed in his room for the most part. There was a fire burning inside of the boy, and that fire was full of hatred.

Joey was the son of rage and love.

Every night, Billie Joe tossed and turned in bed. He knew he wanted a divorce, but it made him feel terrible inside knowing what he was putting his children, which he loved with all of his heart, through.

Every time he picked up the picture of Joey and Jakob, which he kept in his wallet, he cried. In a sense, they were loosing their father just as he had so many years ago, but as the song "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life"; goes, God knew he tried to even though it was practically impossible.

Billie Joe loved his children, and he didn't want to hurt them, but there was absolutely no other way out of everything. He needed Katie to be happy, and to be with Katie he needed to rid himself of his marriage to Adrienne.

March had come to a close, and April had rolled around. The first steps of Billie Joe and Adrienne's divorce had been taken, and of course, their friends and family frowned upon it, especially Mike and Tre.

"I don't understand why you can't just try to fix things with Adie."; Mike said flopping down on the couch beside Billie Joe.

"Dude, it's just not gonna happen. I'm happy here with Katie. She gives me everything I want and need. Don't get me wrong. Me and Adie are always going to be good friends, but we're no longer in love with each other, and that's just the way it's gonna be.";

Mike rolled his eyes and took a sip of beer. He loathed seeing a relationship he had seen since the beginning just fall to pieces. Billie Joe and Adrienne were his best friends, and they would always be, but he knew they belonged together.

It felt wrong to see them without each other, and it felt wrong to have known that Billie Joe had cheated on Adrienne. But in a sense, Mike had always known Billie Joe never forgot about Katie. He had never stopped loving her for all those years. Maybe he did belong with her. Maybe Adrienne had just been a pit stop along the way for him.

"Billie, can I ask you something?"; he asked.

"Sure. What is it?"; the older man responded turning to his best friend.

"I know you love Katie. I know all those years she never escaped your mind. She's a very beautiful woman and always has been, and she's very nice, but are you sure you want to throw away your marriage for a girl you went out with in high school, and then happened to meet up with again?";

"I'm very sure. I've asked myself that hundreds of times, and I always come up with yes as the answer. You said yourself that you knew I loved her. It's my destiny to be with that sexy, talented, smart woman in there."; he replied pointing to the kitchen where Katie was washing dishes.

"I really don't want to see you and Adie get separated."; Mike stated.

"I know, Mike. I know.";

At the dinner table one April evening, Adrienne, Jakob, and Joey sat there in complete silence eating supper. Not much was said in the Armstrong household anymore. Joey had explained what was going on with their parents to Jakob, and that tore him up inside.

Adrienne, out of the corner of her eye, looked down at her eldest son's wrist. When he noticed that she was looking, he quickly removed his arm from the table and placed it in his lap, out of sight.

"Joey, what's wrong with your arm?"; she questioned.

"Nothing."; he responded quickly.

"No honey. Let me see it. You're hurt.";

"No mom. I'm okay."; he said beginning to get up from the table.

Adrienne grabbed Joey by the arm gently, but just enough to hold him back from running off somewhere. She examined his arms and saw several red slits up and down his arms with other cuts beginning to heal closer to his wrists.

"Honey! Why did you do this to yourself?"; she interrogated in a concerned yet sympathetic tone.

Joey removed himself of his mother's grip and ran upstairs to his room. He laid down on his bed and buried his face into his pillow. Adrienne hurriedly followed him upstairs and to his room. She barged in and sat down on the bed next to her crying child.

She placed her hand upon his back and gently soothed his to a calmer state. When his crying became soft sniffles, Adrienne decided to discuss his emotions with him.

"Joey honey, I know you're upset, but please don't hurt yourself about this. It's not your fault, it's our fault. We still love each other as friends, sweetie.";

"It's not your fault either, Mom. It's dad's and that whore's fault.";

"Joey, she's not a whore. Your father has loved her for a very long time. Longer than he ever loved me. I always knew that there was something missing in his life, and now I know what it is. He loves her, and he always will.";

"I just want you and dad back together."; he responded burying his face deeper into the pillow so his words were muffled.

"I know you do, but don't you want us to be happy too?"; she asked.

"Yes, but you were happy before you got a divorce.";

Adrienne patted her son's back sympathetically. She understood exactly what he was going through. The pain, the emotions, and everything.

"Honey, your father will always be there for you no matter what. Just because he doesn't love me anymore doesn't mean that he doesn't love you. He loves you with all his heart. You and Jakob mean more to him than me, Katie, his fans, or the band will ever mean.";

She leant down and kissed her son on the top of the head and then left the room. Her problems were getting more difficult by the minute.
