Young Fan, chapter 1

"I walk this empty street, on the boulevard of broken dreams..." Green Day played their famous "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" as Billie Joe looked around at the crowd. He saw everyone from 5 year old kids to 30 year old long-time fans. But there in the front row, there was a young girl who sang along with every song and even made the chords to each song on an invisible "guitar" that she held with every motion as Billie Joe did. Her and her friends were having a great time and Billie Joe even shot a smile at them. The girl smiled back and turned around and whispered with her friend for a minute and turned back around to see Billie Joe still looking at her, which rarely ever happened because he was so caught up with his music.

While Mike was up there jumping and gritting his teeth, Billie Joe was still looking at his fans. The girl was screaming at the top of her lungs and dancing and playing her "guitar" more enthusiastically then before Billie Joe smiled at her. She even attempted to come up on stage, but there were too many people crowding the stage. She seemed to love the band and while playing and encore of "American Idiot", Billie Joe found that out. She was singing and everything to that song more than the others. At the end of the last song (Novacaine), Billie Joe quickly went off stage and went to the autograph tables, waiting for that girl to come for a signing of a t-shirt or something.

She did come to the tables and asked Billie Joe to sign her "Dookie!" CD. When she did, Billie Joe made small talk with her and she was stunned that he was talking to her.
"I saw you in the audience, you were playing guitar and singing with your buddies"
The girl nodded and smiled.
"I wanna be just like you when I'm older, a lead singer and guitarist for a punk rock band" she remarked. Billie Joe smiled. He handed her CD back to her and she put in her bag, which was covered in Green Day stickers and bumber stickers and a taped picture of her and her 2 other friends.
"Wait," Billie Joe said as the girl was about to leave. "Take this." He handed her an autographed picture of him. "You can tape it to your bag along with your other friends." he said with a big grin. The girl slowly took it from his hand and thanked him about 15 times while gently putting it in her bag. As she turned around to back to the end of the line to meet her friends, she blew him a kiss (knowing she wouldn't be embarassed because she'd never see him again). Instead of just going to his next fan, he waved right back and smiled again.
