This is Big Brother. We have a superstar guest., chapter 3
"Housemates, this is your first Big Brother task." Gavin, one of the other housemates read from the sheet that had been in the envelope.
"I wouldn't have guessed..." Mike rolled his eyes as Gavin continued.
"For this task you have to collect all the equipment for a further task from Big Brother."
"What the hell?!" There was a collective look of confusion from every housemate.
"Apparently its all in a secret location somewhere within the area we're allowed in...all we've got to do is find it all." Gavin finished off by summarising the rest of the sheet, desperate to get on with the task.
"This is going to be so much fun!" seemed to be the general feeling around the group. Billie Joe looked a bit suspicious of the whole thing and Mike still hadn't cheered up from his chat with Big Brother, he was just sat looking pissed off with the world.
"Are we gonna start anytime today?" Mike wanted this over and done with as soon as possible. Sleep seemed like a good thing to him right now.
"We have to wait for Big Brother to tell us to begin." Gavin stated as if it was completely obvious.
Minutes later and the sound of an airhorn came over the loudspeaker that had previously hosted the voice of Big Brother. The most eager of the 12 housemates jumped off the bench and sprinted in different directions around the garden, to anyone just tuning in, it would have looked like it was the first time they had been allowed to move since they got into the house. Mike was the last up, refusing to run around, taking it slowly, occassionally kicking at plants and furniture in a half hearted attempt to move it so he could look for whatever it was they were supposed to be hunting for, wondering why he was being made to wear full safety gear to walk in a small circle.
For the next fifteen minutes, 11 full grown adults ran around in ever decreasing circles around the garden while Mike slumped against what he supposed to be the back wall of the garden - looking slightly surprised as he fell backwards through what turned out to be a false wall, landing awkwardly, banging his head on something.
"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!" Mike shouted into the sky.
"What?!" Tre was the first over to where Mike was laying on his back with his head resting on what appeared to be a plank of wood.
"Mike! You found it!" The girl who had convinced herself that American Idiot was their first album, who's name turned out to be Jamie squealed, pulling Mike up and jumping around like a three year old.
"Oh good." Mike didn't exactly look thrilled, "What the hell is it though?"
Tre and Gavin were leaping about pulling down the rest of the fake wall, revealing a pile of bits of instruments, also finding another envelope attached to the side wall, once again, Gavin took it upon himself to open it as the other 11 housemates crowded round.
"Congratulations housemates. You have successfully found all the equipment for the rest of this weeks task. Please move it all into the house and Big Brother will give you futher instructions later in the day." He read.
"Right, so we've got to move all this kit inside and live around it until Big Brother decides its time to use it?" Billie Joe seemed to want to get it straight in his head before he did anything.
"yeah, basically." Gavin seemed to have decided he was in charge of the whole operation, "Come on then guys, if we all work together we can have this inside in a few minutes!"
"I'm sorry." Mike put in, "Who died and put you in charge?"
"Well, nobody else seems to be doing anything constructive." Gavin shot back.
"Guys! Stop it," Tre jumped between the two before they could go any further, "If you fight, you'll only end up more pissed off...or something...I don't know...maybe..."
After a bit more arguing, eventually all the kit was moved into the house and all the housemates had settled themselves in the living room, slumped on the sofas trying not to make eye contact and bored out of their minds.
"Will Billie Joe please come to the diary room." Big Brother's voice broke the uncomfortable silence, and was followed by a murmur of "What have you done?" and general paranoia as he made his way towards the huge mirrored door that marked the diary room out from any of the other rooms in the house.
