Speechless And Redundant, chapter 33
"So you play the guitar?" I asked. "Well...I'm no good at it. I've just started to learn," she stuttered. "Cool. I play guitar too. By the way, I'm Billie Joe," I said. "Pleasure. My name's Bridget," the girl answered, sticking out her hand. Taking it, I shook it. The moment I took her hand, words started tumbling into my brain. But the ones that stood out the most were those of Auberi's. "Billie, promise me. Find someone to make you happy. It's the only way I'll be happy. Remember your promise." They were all scrambled up inside. "Um...yeah. I know we just met and all, but, would you have coffee with me?" I asked. "Sure," Bridget answered. "And also...I could teach you how to play guitar. No price," I grinned hopefully, still holding her hand, walking down the street towards a coffee shop. "I'd like that Billie Joe," Bridget smiled sweetly at me. "Please, call me Billie. All my friends do," I told her, squeezing her hand. "Ok...Billie."
I hadn't smiled since Auberi died, and now I couldn't stop. Now I knew what Auberi meant. Bridget was already making me happy, and I barely knew her. I wouldn't forget Auberi. I had never loved anybody that much. But I needed to move on and continue with my life.
"It's the only way I will be happy," Auberi's words floated through my mind. She wanted me to be happy. Of course she did. By me finding someone else to love. Of course I didn't love Bridget. I had just met her. But it was a start.
As we walked, I looked up at the sky. "Thanks, Auberi," I whispered. Then me and Bridget walked into the coffee shop.
