Billie Joe and Adie...A Bond That Will Rock On Forever!, chapter 11
"There goes my Minnesota girl." Billie strummed his guitar down the phone to Adrienne, at the other end of the line. It had been exactly two years since Billie and Adrienne first met at a private gig down in Mineapollis, where Adie lived. But even though they had been calling each other nearly every day for the last six months Billie couldn't believe how much he had been missing her, some nights he had cried himself to sleep and others he missed he so much it seemed surreal that she existed. Anyway.... Billie had written a song for her and was playing it down the phone to her from his Berkley appartment. For the last couple of months, life for Billie, Mike and Tre had been going at full speed; their new record 'Kerplunk' was blowing away the underground scene and they were selling out every show they played at Gilman street and the other local complexes. Larry Livermoore (their manager) had been carefully planning a tour of Europe, which was a sign that they were becoming to much for Lookout! Records to handle.
There was a silence at the other end of the phone and Billie could tell Adie was crying. "That was so beautiful, Billie," she smiled. Billie wanted to hug and kiss her so much at that moment, he went into a daze (Adrienne must have been doing the same thing) then saw the phone in front of him and sighed.
"Are you doing anything this weekend?" asked Billie Joe casually.
"I don't think so, I could take time off work I guess," she replied.
"Well come over then!" Chirped Billie. "If you wanna that is?"
"Oh my god, that would be great! I'd get to see you!!!" she laughed.
"We're going on tour in Europe in a couple of months and we wont be able to call each other, I've really gotta see you aides," continued Billie. "Just head down whenever you want, im not going anywhere!" Billie and Adreinne laughed and said their goodbyes.
Billie was alone in the appartment, Tre and his girlfriend were somewhere? and Sean (the other guy who shared the appartment with them and their good friend) was somewhere too? So Billie put his coat on and went on a long walk in the cold winter wind, he liked going on walks, it gave him space to think and he was just sick of sitting around all day, flicking through the TV channels ans smoking pot. On his way he passed a tatoo studio, he already had a couple of tatoos done on their recent tour but he couldn't be bothered to get another one that moment, besides he didn't have the money. He then passed the big warehouse that the guys had lived in last year, just below Tight Wad Hill. Billie walked up the hill and sat on a bench overlooking his old highschool. He started penning a song in his worn little notepad when he felt someone sit down next to him. He looked around and saw Jennifer, his first ever girlfriend, the first girl he ever loved. "Billie Joe? Is that you? OH MY GOD! WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU?" she exclaimed. Billie hadn't seen her since they broke up and she looked so different, she had died her hair red and look as beautiful as ever.
"Jen! fuck, its been a while! So hows it been going, you still in college?" he asked eagerly, facing towards her.
"Well, I dropped out and now I'm working a dead end job for hardly any pay," she listed. "So basically my life's shit!!!" She laughed. "But whats been happening with your band I got your new record and you guys are awesome!" She smiled, she had an amazing smile. Thats what had attracted Billie to her in the first place.
"Yeah, we're doing all right! We're taking on Europe in a couple of weeks, should be cool," answered Billie.
They talked for a while about life and music. Billie started to wonder why he had ever broken up with her in the first place and he had also completely forgotten about Adrienne. "I've missed you Billie" smiled Jennifer, taking his hand and leaning towards him for a kiss, but just as her lips brushed against his he pulled away.
"What?" said Jennifer, looking alarmed.
"Look, Jen, this ain't fair on Adrienne," sighed Billie.
"Oh, you have a girlfriend, I should have known, who is she? If you don't mind me asking???" she said gazing into Billie's wide, green eyes.
"We met not long after you and I broke up, and shes so cool, I'm in love with her... But...." He sighed putting his hands in his pockets.
"But what?" asked Jennifer looking puzzled. Billie sighed and looked at the ground.
"It's getting hard having a relationship over the phone, it sucks, it's just impossible to be together, when she lives so far away."
"Then why are you with her then???" questioned Jennifer, looking at him strangly.
And thats all Billie needed to hear. Why were him and Adie trying to force along a pointless realtionship that wasn't going anywhere. He asked this question to himself all the way home. "Hey Billie, Adie left you a message, she said she'll head down here tonight, OK?" said Tre as Billie walked in through the door, him and his girlfriend, Lisea, were making out on the couch. Billie bit his lip and rolled his eyes up at the stained ceiling.
"Alrighty then..."
