Billie Joe and Adie...A Bond That Will Rock On Forever!, chapter 5

"Hello, Nesser residence, How may I help you?" asked a very polite sounding woman. Billie Joe chocked, this was a bad idea, maybe he should just turn up in Minneapolis and hope for the best.
"Who's speaking please?" asked the woman after a wait of what seemed like 2 hours to Billie Joe (but was actually 2 minutes). He took a deep breath and tried to speak but nothing came out. "LOOK! I know your there, I can hear you breathing, but frankly I'm not in the mood for prank call's and...". "Is Adrienne there?" interrupted Billie Joe.
"Who's speaking?" repeated the woman, suddenly straightening her voice out again.
"Um, her friend... errrr..." Billie Thought back to that night and who was there "... Cassey...!" he said trying to put on a high voice.
"Oh my, Cassey! I must ring the police your parents have been worried sick about you running away like that, DON'T YOU DARE PUT THE PHONE DOWN!" panicked the lady. Billie Joe put the phone down." Oooops", he sniggered to himself. But it wasn't so funny when the phone continued to ring for 3 hours straight, Billie ended up curled up in a tight ball in the corner of the room rocking back and forwards, it just wouldn't stop. He ran up to the phone and snatched it "Look lady, I'm not fucking Cassey! And no, I don't know where she is! I don't EVEN know her, all I wanted to do was speak to ADRIENNE fucking NESSER!", screamed Billie, his eyes blood shot.
"Oh Ok, um hi then." It wasn't the woman anymore, it was her. Billie lost his voice again. "Oh is it gonna be one of those conversations where some stranger calls up from my past and doesn't know what to say, give it up Bouncer!" She sighed!
"Um, I'm not Bouncer and it is gonna be one of those conversations!" whimpered Billie.
"Shit! So are you a stalker then? If you are then go away and stop wasting your time, I've got a class in 1 hour!" said Adrienne. Suddenly Adrienne seemed easier to talk to, he forgot how laid back and funny she was, Billie felt really relaxed, sort of as if he could tell her anything right at that very moment.
"You probably won't remember me but, its Billie Joe, from Oakland?" There was a very long pause." Hi Billie Joe from Oakland," Her voice went softer then. "yeah I remember you, vaguely, the guy who never called?"
"Yeah that would be me, I was gonna call but things have been mad, but I never forgot about you!" he said (he had actually, but she didn't need to know that. )
She laughed, "Well I have to admit you were one of the coolest people I ever met" And it carried on from there, she talked and he talked. Billie knew it was costing him a fortune, but it was worth it just to hear her voice.
"Damn, I've missed my class," she laughed, "I gotta go quickly."
"Oh before you go..." said Billie feeling nervous again "Me and the guys are coming over to Minnesota for the summer, umm do you wanna meet up?" there was a silence across the line, what had he done, had he freaked her out! Maybe she didn't want to see him!
"Oh sorry about that just then, I was getting my coat on!" She said, Billie let go of his breath and was cool again. "Oh my god! Your coming here, obviously I want to see you, when are you heading off?" she asked.
"Tomorrow" replied Billie.
"Shit, you guys move fast! That's great!", "OK I'll meet you at the Grimby's at 8:00 PM, It's this gritty little squat where my friends stay. Now I've gotta go and do some explaining to do to my Mom, Cassey's parents and the police" She laughed. She gave Billie Joe the address to the place where they were going to meet and where Green Day were going to do the gig. "Oh sorry about that missing person thing, I had no fucking clue!" laughed Billie, Adrienne laughed too and they put the phone down. It was as simple as that Billie was going to see Adie, he turned around and noticed Mike was sitting on the toilet seat fiddling with his bass. "So I guess we're going to stay in Minnesota for the summer?" he mumbled against the thudding of his bass, smiling.
"Yup! I'm going to go get something to eat, see ya", And he walked off, the warm Californian breeze blowing his baseball cap off. He was really gonna see her again!
