Dreams come true, chapter 3

Here Tre and I were, sitting at the dining room table, eating our dinner with my parents squawking about my childhood. I had no idea what they were talking about. Half of the things didn't even happen. They didn't even remember that I was turned out on the street...maybe that changed too. Maybe I lived with them the entire time. Sooner or later mom would take out the albums and then I'd find out.

From across the table I could feel Tre's foot touching my ankle. His foot went up my leg and somewhat under my skirt. I coughed and patted my chest as I took a sip of water. I shot daggers at him. Tre looked at me with a smirk on his face.
"Honey, are you okay?" My mother asked.
"Yeah I'm fine."

I moved the remaining bit of food on my plate and shoved Tre's foot off of me. Tre's smirk got wider as he put his foot back under my skirt and touched my inner thigh. I shoved his foot off again.
"Can I be excused?" I asked.
"Yes, of course." My father said.
I took my plate into the kitchen and cleaned it off. Tre came in shortly after with his plate.
"Don't do it." I said, just before he was going to put his arms around me.

He backed off and let me put the dishes in the dishwasher before my mother took over. My mother and I cleaned up while Tre and my father went in the living room.
"Are you excited for the big day?" My mother asked.
"Actually I was meaning to talk about that. Tre and I want to tell you both at the same time."
"Umm...okay." My mother said uneasily.
I brushed it off and wiped down the counter.

I sat down beside Tre and he put his arm around me. My parents gave me the glare. Their 19 year-old hanging out with a 30 something-year old would not go too well. Well I was 19 two nights ago at least. I pushed Tre's arms off me and crossed my legs.
"So what do you two need to tell us?" My mother asked.
I looked at Tre and he looked at me. We stared in silence for a minute before Tre turned away. He opened his mouth but closed it as if thinking how to say it.
"Sam and I have decided not to have the wedding for awhile." He said.
"Why?" My mother asked.

My father's expression was neutral as if it didn't matter to him.
"We just think we should wait longer." I said.
My parents and us didn't say anything for awhile. The silence was very uncomfortable. Tre squeezed my hand so I felt more comfortable. I felt comfortable around someone I only knew from his music... that was weird. I didn't even know what he liked, but I did know he was the weird one out of the band.
