Just Another Day, chapter 1
I woke up. I had sweat running from my face. I had a nightmare. It involved me and Tré Cool. I've been having a lot of dreams of him and me lately. I think nothing of it and wipe the sweat from my brow. I look into the mirror at my early-morning-ugliness. I grunt with disappointment. I go into the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth. I look in the mirror. I look myself in the eyes. I go back into my bedroom. I pull my clothes out of the closet. I get dressed into my favourite outfit. I brush my hair and do a sort of messy but nice style with it. I put my make-up on in the mirror. I finish my make-up and look myself in the eyes. You're so ugly... I thought. I grab my bag and head downstairs. I walk into the kitchen. My mum is there with her head in her hands, crying. Not again... I thought. Now let me tell you something about my mum. She really wants me to find a boyfriend and stuff, the thing is, the guy that I LOVE is going out with my best friend. Sucks right? Anyway, i make my breakfast and sit next to my mum,
"Mum... Are you okay?" I asked, trying to see her face,
"....Fine..." She grunts. I leave it and carry on eating my breakfast. I finish my corn flakes and put my bowl into the sink,
"I'm off mum, okay?" I asked, not expecting an answer,
"...Okay, honey...Be safe..." She said, not lifting her head up from her hands. I pick up my keys and give my mum a kiss on the head. She suddenly lifts her head up and gives me a great big hug, saying 'I love you.' I hug her back and walk out of the kitchen and out of the door with a last 'goodbye.'

I arrive at the gates outside of school. I lean on the gate, waiting for my friend. I see her car pull up in the lay-by. She gets out of the car and comes running to me,
"Lauren!" She shouts,
"Emily!" I shout back, not as excited as her,
"I have news!" She says as she gives me a hug,
"Oooh, really?" I say sarcastically, no doubt it has to be about her and Ashley, her boyfriend,
"Oh don't sound so glum!" She says as she starts to walk over the grass,
"I'm sorry, go on, tell me." I say, not really interested,
"Well.." She says, flicking her hair back,
"..Me and Ashley.." Yep, i was right, about Ashley, she only ever talks to me about him, it's so annoying,
"..Well...We.. We were getting off, right? On my bed, and then he took his top off!" She said, all excited, she looks into my eyes, waiting for a reaction,
"Oooh la la.." I said
"I know! Then guess what? He got an erection when he was on top of me, kissing!" She said, smiling the biggest smile, Emily was meant to be the little posh boffin, to her, this was a big deal,
"Oh wow.." I said, again, not interested. She looks a bit down and carries on walking with me. We get to the tutor room and we go inside. We sit down next to each other, she starts to talk to my other best friend, Zoë. As am I, Zoë wasn't really interested either. You see, Zoë and her boyfriend John have been going out for at least 6 months and it's getting really serious, but Ashley and Emily have been going out for about a month. Zoë thinks that Ashley and Emily are just trying to do more than Zoë and John. I, personally, agree. I look at Zoë, she looks at me and she rolls her eyes. I smile weakly and turn towards the guy sitting next to me, Niall. Niall is a good friend, i used to fancy him in year 8, we're in year 9 now. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, we didn't go out. I haven't had a boyfriend. I didn't really want one after what happened with me and Niall. Our tutor walks in and addresses us. The school day officially begins...

"...And that's your homework. Have a good weekend, everybody and I'll see you on Monday." Said the utterly boring French teacher. She's only funny when she's telling us off, she's so passionate, it's hilarious. I walk out into the hall and wait for Emily and Zoë. Ashley is standing beside me, he says
"Lauren!" and gives me a big hug. I hug back. I never want to let you go... I thought. If only he knew how much i felt for him. Emily walks into the hall with Zoë. Emily and Ashley kiss goodbye, so do Zoë and John. I ask Emily which way she's walking, she says the way I'm going so, we walk out together. Emily insists Ashley has to walk with us, so he does. We arrive at the bus stop where Ashley needs to get his bus from. Emily and Ashley kiss again and say their final goodbyes until tomorrow, we're all meeting up in town to go shopping and stuff. I wave Ashley goodbye but he comes running up to me and gives me a big hug and squeezes so tightly. You're choking me, but I love you He finally lets go and waves bye, Emily and me carry on walking.

"...And I was like, oh my god!" I finished. I was telling her about me and Niall talking about Sex Education in R.E,
She laughs and says "Okay honey , i'll see you tomorrow, remember, McDonalds at 1!" She says, excited
"McDonalds at 1!" I repeat. I give her a hug and wave goodbye. I go into my house. You know, Emily isn't that bad when she's not talking about her and Ashley or when she's on her own... I shout
"I'm home!" when I walk in through the front door. No one home? That's weird... I throw my bag down and go into the kitchen, and look around. Nope, not here. I go upstairs and into the bathroom to find a quite a sight. I yell
"OH MYGOD! Mum!" I found my mum on the floor, unconscious, at least that what I hope she is. I check her pulse. She's alive, just. I run into my mum's room and pick up the phone and call 999. I asked for an ambulance, the voice said one should be along any minute. I go back into the bathroom and check her pulse again, still unconscious. Oh, mum, please be okay..

I'm at the hospital. I'm in the waiting room, waiting for any news about my mum. I've been in this stinking room for about 3 hours. Suddenly, a doctor comes walking to me. Please let mum be okay I think. He doesn't look so happy. Oh no. What's happened? He stands about a foot in front of me and says,
"I have some bad news." He said in a low tone. Oh no, she's dead, oh my god! Before the doctor said anything else, I burst into tears,
"I'm so sorry to tell you that your mother passed away about 10 minutes ago." He said, looking into my eyes,
"No, No! NO! Mummy!!" I yell and fall onto the floor, crying my heart out. The doctor tried to lift me up but I just wanted to snuggle up into a ball and die. The last thing I remembered was the doctors face saying 'Lauren! I'm so sorry...'

Two weeks have passed since my mother died. Her funeral was a few days after she died. I have no other family, so my friend Zoë came with me. A few of my mum's friends was there and, of course, the priest. I'm now staying at my friend Zoë's house. I sort of feel like i'm intruding on their life. But since they adopted me, they say they're happy for me to be there. It's second lesson of the day and the teacher just dismissed us from the class. I walk out of the classroom and wait for Emily and Zoë. They walk out of the class, smiling. I haven't smiled since mum died, i'm too upset. Ashley walks out and says 'Lauren!' and gives me a big hug, this time, I squeeze so hard Ashley let go of me. He realised I was crying and gave me a gentler hug. I cried into his shoulder. Just then, a guy pushed passed me. I turned round to give a telling off, but as soon as I looked into his eyes, i fancied him. Who was he? Was he new? Have I finally got over Ashley?
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" He asked,
"I- i'm fine. Thanks, are you?" I asked, staring,
"I'm great thanks, see ya" He chuckled as he walked off. Little did I know, I was still holding Ashley. Emily gave me a what-the-fuck-are-you-doing? looks. I let go of him. Wait, he was holding me... I couldn't think about that now. Who was that guy?

It's lunch time, the next day. Me and my 'gang' are sitting round the table, talking and doing the normal shit we do.
"Hey, has anyone got any spare money?" I ask.
"Yeah, here you go" Said Tina, giving me a 20p. I like Tina, she understands me,
"Thanks, anyone else?" I ask again,
"Err..Yeah, here" Said Ashley giving me a 50p,
"Thanks, i'm gonna get a drink.." I get up and go into the canteen. I go over to the fridge and look for a drink that doesn't taste of piss.
"Hey" Says a voice behind me, I turn round, it's him. The guy.
"Oh, hey" I say, staring into his blue eyes,
"Looking for a drink?" He asks, looking down at the fridge,
"Yeah, i'm thirsty" I say, also looking down at the fridge,
"I'm Frank. What's your name?" He asks, holding his hand out to shake,
"I'm Lauren." I smile and shake his hand.
Frank eh? Ooh la la...
"Mum... Are you okay?" I asked, trying to see her face,
"....Fine..." She grunts. I leave it and carry on eating my breakfast. I finish my corn flakes and put my bowl into the sink,
"I'm off mum, okay?" I asked, not expecting an answer,
