You're the best thing in town, chapter 1

Adrienne placed the note on Billie Joe's night table along with her wedding ring. She couldn't believe what she was doing. But she new it was the right thing to do. Adrienne couldn't love Billie Joe anymore. He had hit her last night, which broke her heart into a million pieces. So she picked up her bags, along with the kid's bags and left the house.

The kids were waiting in the car for their mother. Jakob had just woke up and had no idea what was going on. Joey was crying a bit, and wouldn't talk to his mother. She got into the car and started the ignition.

"Mommy, where are we going with all this stuff?" Jakob asked curiously, having no clue what was going on.

"We are moving away, sweetie." Adrienne said. She started to cry when she looked at the two boys. "You know, you two look exactly like your father."

"Yes, we know." Joey and Jakob said in unison. Their mother would always tell them this. but this time she was crying.

"Why isn't daddy coming?" Jakob asked.

"Because mommy is leaving daddy, Jake." Joey said. He was really upset about this. He would now be living in a broken home. His dad promised him he would never live that way. But his mom had broken that promise, and he would be alone. The only person he could talk to was his dad.

* Jake's pov*

"Mommy, is this true?" I asked with a tear in my eye.

"Yes, I'm sorry guys but he broke my heart. He came home drunk again. But this time he hit me. Now I no longer love him anymore."

I was so upset at my mom right now. I didn't know if I'd ever see my dad again. Joey and I cried the whole way to our new home.

*2 hours later, at Billie Joe's home*
*Billie Joe's pov*

I woke up with the worst hangover I have had in my entire life. I saw a note on my night table. It was written by Adie, my wife, of course. What shocked me the most was her wedding ring beside it.

"Shit, what the fuck did I do last night?" I thought out loud.
Then I read the note carefully

Dear Billie,
I don't think we should be together anymore.
I know this is sudden and shocking, but if you remember what you did
to me last night you would understand why I want a divorce.
Not only did you come home drunk, when I told you not to, but you hit me
when I refused to give you the spare bottle of tequila.
If you were upset about something you could of come and talked to me
instead of drowning your sorrows at the bar.
So, the kids and I are moving into my mothers house.
Don't you dare come to the house drunk to talk to me.
I will not give you another chance, because I have been patient enough
with you. Plus you broke my heart last night and I no longer love you the
way I used to.

With little sympathy,
Adrienne

"FUCK!" I screamed. I started to cry. I cried for I very long time, too weak to do anything.

Adie means everything to me. I had to talk with her.

I got in my car and started to drive toward his mother in law's house.
The radio was playing Redundant, our song. I started to cry again, making it harder for me to see the road ahead.

When I got to the house, I nervously walked up to the door. I rang the doorbell, and Adie's mother answered the door.

"Adrienne doesn't want to talk to you." Her mother said.

"Let him in, mom." Adie said. I tried to slip passed her mom, but she blocked me.

"I don't care what my daughter says. I'm not letting you talk to her or get closer to her than you are now. Get of my property before I call the police."

"MOM! Let him in, NOW!" Adie screamed kind of chocking as she said each word.

"Fine, but don't do anything stupid, Billie Joe."

"Daddy!" Jake screamed when he saw me. He lunged towards my waist and gave me a hug.

"Jake, get off me for a second. I need to talk to your mother."

"OK."

"ALONE!" I said and Jakob walked away.

"Good luck." Said Joey. Then he walked away too. After the two boys were out of sight, Billie entered the living room where Adrienne was waiting for him.

"I can explain..." I stopped when I saw the large scratch on my wife's face. "Oh, uh sorry."

"SORRY, BILLIE JOE! YOU COME HOME DRUNK, WHICH I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO FOR JUST TWO WEEKS BECAUSE I'M BUSY WITH ALL THE WORK FROM THE RECORDING STUDIO, AND DON'T HAVE TIME TO TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS. BUT THIS TIME YOU DECIDED TO BE THE AGGRESSIVE DRUNK BILLIE, AND YOU SLAPPED ME WHEN I TOLD YOU TO GO TO BED. AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS SORRY."

"No Ad..."

"Sorry Billie. I was willing to give you another chance but you blew it."

"YOU ARE NOT LETTING ME FINISH!" I said.

"Because all you have to say is total crap. Leave NOW." Adie said.

"Oh wait, before you go I need to say that I will call you to make our divorce final."

Divorce. When were we deciding on a divorce. I felt tears come to my eyes.
Then my cell rang. It was Tre.

"Billie where are you? We have been waiting in Mike's garage for like two hours!" Tre said.

"I'm at Adie's mom's house."

"Why are you there?" Tre asked me.

"Adie wants to get a divorce with me." I broke down right on the steps crying.

"You shouldn't drive when you're upset. I'll come pick you up." Tre said and then the line went dead. I had nobody but my broken hearted self.

Adie means everything to me.
But I mean nothing to her.
