Have To See It To Believe It, chapter 2
She sat there and stared at the figure approching her. She couldn't move. Her mind was set on the figure walking towards her. Her eyes started to feel heavy as Billie Joe approched her slowly. She couldn't hold in the tears anymore. She stood up, turned towards the woods and ran into them without looking back.
"Wait!" He yelled after her. He didn't want to see his one and only daughter to run away from him. He chased after her. "Emily don't run, I just want to talk to you."
"HOLD ON! YOU WANT TO TALK TO ME?! YOU HAD 14 YEARS TO TALK TO ME BUT YOU NEVER DID! NOW JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" She turned around and screamed the tears still coming down her face. She turned around and kept running. She still felt the pressence of him following her. She ran back to her burned house and jumped over the fence, only to see her dog and cat tilting their heads in suprise.
She fell to the ground. Everything seemed to happen too fast to her. She wanted it all to stop. Her thoughts were disrupted by a loud clatter. She turned her head only to see Billie Joe trying to climb over the fence she jumped. He was about half way over and CRASH! There he went, down to the ground with a loud thud. He got up slowly and put his hand to his head in pain.
"Okay, thats the last time I try to hop a fence." He murmered to himself. Emily heard what he said and started laughing uncontrollably. He didn't even notice she was there until she started laughing. He looked up at her and glared at her. She noticed this and laughed even harder. "HEY! Its not as easy as it looks." He said looking down and pretending to cry. He heard a loud growl and looked to his right only to see Emily's dog growling at him. "Uh Oh.. I think I'm in trouble." He said wide eyed and in fear of the dog.
"Its okay, Shelby wouldn't hurt a flea." Emily said noticing that Billie was backing away from the dog.
"Well, I'm no flea. At least I don't think." He replied looking at his arms and legs still backing away from Shelby. Emily rolled her eyes and stood up.
"Here Shelby, lunch time." She said trying to not burst out in laughter. Her dog stopped growling and looked up to see Emily's smiling face trying to get her to come over. She let out one last growl and went over to her. "Good puppy, now lets go get you some food. Come on, you can follow Billie." She said helping a almost fear struck Billie Joe off the ground. They went into the halfway burned garage and Emily found some food to feed her dog and cat. She set out a small glass bowl and poured it half way full.
"Wow. Never thought THE Billie Joe would be scared of a little Cocker Spaniel." She said eyeing him up and down.
"Well I never thought my only daughter would be scared to see me." He said returning her gaze. She just turned and sat down on the cold cement floor and wrapped her hands around her knees and started to cry silently. "Oh my god I'm sorry I never meant to upset you. I'll just go now if you want." With that Billie Joe turned around and started walking out of the garage.
"Wait. Don't go. I've already lost what I thought was my family. I don't want to lose more this time. It's just...Why didn't anybody tell me that I was adopted?" She asked trying to keep in her tears.
"Well Emily, Adrienne and I gave you up for adoption because we had no other choice. We couldn't support a child then. We gave you to your parents because you mom and dad had a steadier job. But we promised we would come back in three years to take you off their hands."
"THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU!? YOU COULD'VE BUT YOU DIDN'T!" She half yelled and half cried.
"We did come back for you. But your parents said that it was your choice and you didn't want to go. This broke my heart, but I let you make your own decision. Your parents and I kept in touch but eventually lost touch when you moved to Utah. I searched for 7 years but I couldn't find you. So eventually I just gave up." He replied and looked at Emily, kneeling down at eye level. "I'm Sorry. Can we just start over? Hi! I'm Billie Joe Armstrong." He said extending his had for her to take.
"I'm Emily but my friends call me Mily." She replied taking his hand and being lifted up.
"Mily? As in rhymes with Billie Mily?" He said, kind of confused.
"Yup the one and only." She replied looking at him in a gaze again.
"Well Mily, if that is your real name. How about you come live with me and Adie now. We've been waiting 14 years for you."
"Wait!" He yelled after her. He didn't want to see his one and only daughter to run away from him. He chased after her. "Emily don't run, I just want to talk to you."
