"Normal? What is this...Normal?", chapter 6

I blushed, and watched as Kelsey left before turning around to Tre. I rubbed the back of my head embarrassedly. He just grinned at me. An awkward silence filled the room, and it was starting to get dark. Most of the lost children had been found, and the other injured people went home or to the hospital. I went back to the bed, and straightened the chair. I was getting tired, and I had to pack up Heart Grenade and get him back to his stables. I stood, and was about to say so, but was met instead by a pair of lips.

I was shocked, and I couldn't resist freezing up a bit, and staring into the unfamiliar face of the person kissing me.

Okay, now pause. I'm a weird person. I didn't grow up being normal and getting hugs. I don't enjoy anyone even touching my arm for longer than half a second. And I've never even had a kiss before. So now I'm having my first one with a rockstar? I know I should be happy, melting even, but I just pulled away, slapped him and ran out of the hospital thing.

I am so weird.

I'll regret that.

*BILLIE'S POV*
I was heading into the tent where it was more likely than not that Tre was there by now, when the blonde girl Tre had followed earlier ran out, looking as if she wished the whole world would just fuck off and leave her alone. I sighed. Tre, what had you done now? I looked in, and there was Tre, looking heartbroken. Shrugging, I walked over.

"But... But I just kissed her..."
"YOU WHAT?!" I gasped. Okay, so he WAS Tre, but she's still only sixteen, maybe seventeen. And it was only a day, not even. Like, ten minutes that they had known each other.
"And then she slapped me!" His cheek was starting to show a clear red handmark, fingers and all, and it looked painful. Not that he didn't deserve it from over the years. But still. I pitied him. I sighed and shook my head, stuffing my hands into my pockets and sitting on the bed.
"Tre..."
"What?" He sat beside me, and buried his face into his hands. Poor guy.
"Whe's like, four years older than your daughter, you know." At that, he paled, and the slap mark was more evident than ever. "And maybe she didn't think of you that way."
"But she did," he said stubbornly, the words made less effective by the muffling of his hands.
"Or maybe you were just too fast. And jarred her?"

*TRE'S POV*
That made sense. but I just groaned, and stood. Turning to leave, I saw a spot of red on the floor. Smiling, I picked it up and held it gingerly. Her hat.

*BILLIES POV*
Tre was smiling at the hat reminiscently, but I just stood and put my hand on his shoulder. It was time to go back to the hotel.
"Come on, man.' I said softly, and he just walked sadly, without looking up, to the parking lot and to the car.

*RHIANNON'S POV*
I was steaming mad, not at Tre so much anymore, but at myself. Why did I slap him? I mean. It was only a kiss, right? But it was my first one. But what was that bad? I shook my head, wrapping a sweater tighter around myself and walking down the almost-deserted grounds to the rodeo stables. People were avoiding me. Couples broke their hand-holds to let me through. Guys who looked like my Uncle Animal (A.K.A. six feet tall, bearded and a Hell's Angel) raised their eyebrows and let me pass. It was good, this feeling.

Finally, I reached the stables and started to Heart Grenade's stall, but I stopped short, my jaw dropping.

Someone was at the stall door, petting the red muzzle of my horse.

And feeding him a carrot.

"Mike?" His head turned, and he smiled a bit.
