The One I Want (The Better Version), chapter 1
Tessa awoke and smiled to herself. Swiftly she climbed out of bed and turned on her CD player. As 'King For A Day' blared over the speakers she dressed in her normal light blue jeans and black t-shirt. Today her shirt read "Who The Fuck Is Tre Cool?" which was really funny to her because Tre was her favorite band member. The song ended and 'At the library' started. She brushed her long black hair and pulled it up into a pony tail. She shut off the music and went down stairs.
The kitchen was empty, as always. Tessa grabbed a glass and poured herself some orange juice. It was only noon, way too early for her to normally wake up, but today was her 17th birthday and her friends had something BIG planned.
The phone rang and she checked the caller ID. Jess' cell.
"Hello?"
"Jello!" she answered in her usually goofiness.
"Hey, sup?"
"Not too much. Hey come to the backyard, but don't go through the garage!"
"Why not?"
"Because I said so!"
"Ok, I'll be right out."
"Ok, bye"
"Bye." Tessa hung up the phone and walked out the front door. 'Jess is so weird sometimes' she thought, shaking her head as she walked around the house.
When she got to the back yard all her friends started to attack her but Natalie pulled her away. Jess, Natalie and Lauren were all smiling.
"Tess, your gonna love us forever when you find out what we did for your birthday!" Lauren laughed
"Oh, really. So what DID you do?" Tessa raised her left eyebrow slightly.
"Well, first you MUST promise not to scream, faint, cry, or anything else of the Teenie persuasion." Jess chimed in.
"Ok, I promise, now tell me, WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
"Well, really, we can't tell you. We have to show you!" Natalie pushed the button for the automatic garage door opener. The door slowly rose and the first few notes of "Happy Birthday' sounded. Tessa freaked on the inside the moment she saw the shoes of the people hiding in the garage. She knew those shoes anywhere! The door opened and Billie, Mike and Tre began to sing.
Afterwards they walked over and Billie shook Tessa's hand. "Happy Birthday, I'd stay to talk" he laughed and pointed at the refreshment table, "but I really need a drink." She nodded and watched them walk away. Turning to her friends she smiled.
"How the hell did you mange this?" They all laughed.
"Well, we all pitched in a little money to rent them for the day."
"How much is a little, Lauren?"
"A lot, but your mom helped too!"
"What, but she HATES Green Day."
"Yea, but it's not HER birthday!" Jess laughed. Tessa just shook her head and hugged her friends as she watched Billie, Mike and Tre drink punch.
