Please Wake Me Up When September Ends or Let Me Here to Die!, chapter 2
"Ryan what's the matter?"
I looked to see what he was looking at when I saw our house. There were 2 police cars outside the house. I almost fell but Ryan held me up. I began crying into his shoulder.
"Seth, it's ok."
We walked over to the house but there was a yellow line. "Hey!" a police yelled.
"Officer what is going on?" Ryan asked.
"Sorry that is confidential." He said.
"What happened to my mom and stepfather?" Ryan asked trying to keep calm.
"Oh you to are the children of Tom and Sara Bicks."
"No we are the children of Sara and Jack Watson but our mother re-married after our father was killed in an accident." Ryan said.
"Well your mother called us to come here after Tom started throwing beer bottles."
"Is our mom ok?"
As you can see Ryan did all the talking I was to busy crying.
"Well just about 10 minutes before you arrived the ambulance carried her off."
"What happened to our mother?"
"Well one of the bottles hit your mother in the head and we are afraid she wont make it."
Just then I heard a sob come from Ryan.
I looked up and gave him a hug. The police officer left and we walked over and sat on the curb. We just sat there looking at the ground. Just then I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. I jumped slightly and looked up. "What are you guys doing on the curb?" It was our Aunt Tally.
I stood up and ran into her arms. She was the best aunt in the world. "Guys it's gonna be ok. You are going to be living with me."
"Really?" I asked my voice sounding weird since it was a while since I talked.
"Yea, you really are." She said.
So we went up to the yellow line and waited for an officer to come over. "May I help you?"
"Yea, we were wondering if we could go get some of our stuff." I said.
"Yes but please go in the back door." We walked around the house and in the door. I walked up to my room and Ryan walked to his. I grabbed my guitar, some clothes, and all of my Green Day posters.
I waited for Ryan to come out and was looking around. I made a big mistake though. I looked downstairs and there was blood all on the wall and on the floor.
I was about to scream but Ryan put his hands on my mouth and on my eyes.
"Seth it is going to be ok." He said as he pulled me into a hug.
We walked down the stairs and out the door.
We got out of the back yard but we were cut off by Tre'.
"So... Ryan can I talk to Seth?"
"Yea, sure Tre'."
He walked to Aunt Tally's car and left me with Tre'.
"Whoa you're Tre' Cool!"
"The one and only. So Seth, I have something to ask you."
"Ok, shoot."
"Well, I know I have only known you for about a day and I was wondering if you would go out with me." I looked at him and then the ground.
I was shocked because I was 18 and no boy had ever asked me out.
I felt like I was going to faint.
