Spooky Hauntings, chapter 1
It was September the 10th the air was cold and the atmosphere was tense. The graveyard was quiet; the trees remained silent in the freezing breeze that was travelling in and out of the old and crumbling headstones.
Every year at this time and on this day Billie Joe Armstrong visits this graveyard
As it was this day twenty-four years ago that his father had died of cancer when he was only ten years old. It was his father that introduced him to music and made him want to be a musician.
Billie was in a band called Green Day, along with his best friends Mike Dirnt andTre Cool. They had just finished their American Idiot worldwide tour and were now taking a year or so off.
Billie always feels a bit lonely this time of year so he wrote a song about how he felt when his father died. The song is called Wake Me Up When September Ends. When he sings the song at concerts it is amazing to see soo many people holding up their lighters and just stands there waving them and listening to every word. Some of them are crying and some of them have blank expressions on their faces.
Billie looked at his watched and was surprised that it was only 10:30pm. He was getting cold, but he didn't care all he wanted to do was to spent time at his father's grave and tell him all that's been happening to him this past year. It made him feel so lonely without his father here to watch him grow up and be as successful as his father wanted him to be.
Billie had his diary with him and was writing down what he was thinking every now and then but as he was writing this a tall man grabbed hold of his shoulder.
It was his best friend Mike.
"How are you holding up?" Mike asked as comforting as he could.
"I'm doing alright. But even though it has been twenty-four years since he died it still feels as if he just died yesterday." Billie said with a few tears in his eyes.
"Yeah I know but you come here every year to see his grave don't you? And you stay here with him for twelve hours no matter what the weather is like?"
"Yeah, but all I wish is that he could've seen me grow up."
"Yeah I know. You still have the guitar he gave you don't you? You still use it don't you?"
"Yeah I play it every day but it still doesn't bring him back, does it?"
"Well, no I guess it doesn't."
"How come you're here anyway" Billie asked shivering slightly.
"I just came to see how you were and to give you this"
Mike handed Billie his leather jacket.
"I thought that you might be cold without it."
"Thanks."
"No problem. Hey I'm going to go home but do you want me to pick you up in the morning."
"Yeah sure. Thanks. Hey can you phone Tre and ask him if he's coming to my house tomorrow."
"Yeah sure but you'll probably be asleep and Adrienne will want us to come back later when you wake up."
"She said that she'll be coming down to see me for a bit and I was wandering if you could watch Joey and Jakob for me."
"Yeah sure I'll go to yours and tell Adrienne that I'll watch the kids. I'll see you in the morning alright."
"Yeah thanks."
Mike left and Billie was left on his own next to his father's grave. The seconds turned into minutes. There was still no sign of Adrienne yet so he put his diary down for a bit and stared at the stars.
The diary page read:
Dear Diary,
I am here at my father's grave again. The air is cold and the tension here is weird I have a very weird feeling that something is bound to go wrong tonight and I'm always right about that sort of stuff. I'm a bit scared to be honest. I just want my wife to be here to hold me in her arms like she always does when I'm scared or upset about something. I feel a bit alone and I'm cold. Mike and Tre have been so nice to me this week as they know how I feel at this time of the year. I think Adrienne told Joey and Jakob to be on their very best behaviour (they always are) for me as I come to see him for twelve hours. I do every year. Well, I'll write more later.

Billie was sitting down next to his father's grave when he heard a car pull up outside the gates. He recognised it as his black BMW and knew that Adrienne had arrived.
She was walking up to him when something suddenly jumped in front of her as if it didn't want her to take another step towards him. It growled and started to make its way towards her. Adrienne was scared and she wanted Billie here to help her. This churchyard always gives her the creeps as so many famous people had visited here and now remain here. Like Charles the 1st, Edward V1, Elizabeth 1st and Henry Wriothesley.
She screamed, as the creature was moving towards her.
Billie heard a scream and recognised it in an instant. It was Adrienne. He got up.
"I'll be back in a minute dad." Billie said to his father's grave and then ran to help Adrienne.
The creature was still making its way towards Adrienne when Billie got there.
"Billie, help me please!" Adrienne said in bursts of tears now knowing that her husband is here to help her.
"Don't worry Adie. Just be still and very quiet, do not scream. Okay?"
"Alright."
The creature was still moving towards her, it had no real interest in Billie but when it heard Billie move closer it started to growl louder and more ferociously. Billie wasn't scared though he kept moving closer to the creature and he began to move around it so that he could be near Adrienne. He managed to reach her and then he said,
"When I jump on top of him I want you to run into the Abbey and stay there until I call you alright, got it?"
"Billie I don't want you to get hurt though."
"I'll be fine I just want you to be safe alright come out when I call you alright and not if you see me lying on the ground don't come out. If I am on the floor call Tre or Mike to come and do not move from inside that Abbey alright!"
"Okay, be careful Billie!"
And she kissed him gently on the lips and waited for her sign to run into the Abbey.
Billie was moving swiftly towards the creature and it didn't even move from its position. It was growling more loudly now and was bearing its teeth in a threat fully manner. Billie jumped onto the creature and Adrienne ran into the Abbey.
She hid behind one of the stonewalls and peered over the top and watched as Billie was fighting the creature off. He grabbed the creature by the neck until he heard a clicking sound and until the creature was limp. But not before it got Billie in the chest with its teeth and claws.
Adrienne saw that the creature was limp on the floor its neck at an odd angle and she saw that Billie was clutching his chest and was shaking then he fell to the ground and remained motionless.
Adrienne wanted to run over to Billie and hold him but he told her to stay there until he called for her. She grabbed her cell and began to dial Mike's number.
"Hello?" Mike asked.
"Mike it's me Adrienne you have got to come to the graveyard where Billie is this creature came and was headed towards me so Billie jumped on it so I could run into the Abbey and he told me to stay there until he called me but he isn't moving he's lying next to the dead creature I'm scared Mike I'm really scared." Adrienne said in tears and she was shaking slightly in the cold night air.
"Alright stay calm, I'll drop the kids off at Tre's then I'll be right there. I know that Billie told you to stay where you are but go over to him and stay with him until I get there."
"Alright but please you have to hurry."
She hung up the phone and went running over to Billie. He was unconscious and he was bleeding heavily.
"Billie! Billie! Wake up, please wake up!" Adrienne was shrieking as she tried to wake him up.
She held him close to her and was rocking him back and fourth she was crying and thinking why did this have to happen to him. She gave up waiting for Mike and called the ambulance.
When it arrived they rushed over to Billie and put an oxygen mask on him. They put pressure on his chest and put him in the ambulance. Adrienne followed and called Mike to tell him that Billie was on their way to the hospital. But was it too late to save Billie?
