There's One In Every Family, chapter 4
I let myself into Billie's house and sat down in the lounge. I could hear the guys downstairs practicing, but I decided I needed to be alone for a while. I sat and thought about what I was going to do. I couldn't stay at Billie's forever; he'd get sick of me. I couldn't go back home. I was so deep in thought that I didn't hear the guys come up from the basement.
"Hey Maddi. When did you get here? We were about to go and look for you."
"Oh, hi. I got here about..." I looked at the clock on the wall. "...an hour ago. I didn't realize I'd been here that long. Sorry for getting you worried."
"Its okay," said Billie. He walked over to me and hugged me. He whispered in my ear, "I'm here to talk if you need to, ok?"
I nodded against his shoulder.
Later that night we had made five bowls of popcorn, all different kinds, and raided Billie's pantry for sweets. We had gone to the video shop earlier and gotten out a few movies, mainly horrors and comedies. We went into the lounge and sat down on the couch. I sat next to Billie. Tré decided to sit right in front of the TV on the floor.
A few movies in, I started to get tired. I said to Billie, "Which room am I sleeping in tonight?"
"Whichever you want," he lowered his voice, "but mine would be nice." His eyes sparkled as he said that.
"Ok. I'll deci..."
"Would you two shut up already? You're ruining the best part." Tré had finally gotten sick of our very short conversation. I picked up a pillow after he had turned back around and aimed it at his head. It was a perfect hit, right in the back of his head, knocking it forward.
He turned around and shouted, "Who the fuck threw that?" I pointed at Billie and he pointed at me. Tré looked at Mike. Billie and I made eye contact and both pointed at Mike. Tré charged and knocked Mike to the ground. I was in hysterics while Mike was being hit over the head with the pillow I threw.
"Tré, stop hitting me! I didn't throw the pillow! It was Madison!"
Tré paused and looked up at me.
"Oh shit." I jumped off the back of the couch with Tré close behind me.
"Get back here, Madison. You need to be punished for wrecking my awesome hair-do."
"You sound more and more like a girl each day, Tré," I yelled back to him.
"You're going down now, Maddi," he said, getting angrier every second.
"That's only if you can catch me."
I ran up the stairs and locked myself in the bathroom. I went through the drawers, knowing that Billie kept water bombs in every room, just in case an emergency like this happened. I found them in the back of the bottom draw. I quickly filled them up and tied them off. Seven were enough. I could hear Tré pounding on the door.
"I will only come out if you step back and stop yelling at me," I said.
"Okay," Tré replied.
I slowly unlocked the door and opened it. I put my free hand out in the peace sign. "Peace?"
"Peace," he replied. I stepped out, keeping my hand behind my back. "What have you got there?"
"Oh, just..." I threw all of the water bombs at the same time, most of them hitting their target. I pelted back down the stairs and out the front door.
"You're in for it now, Maddi," Billie yelled after me.
"Come and save me then," I yelled as I sailed around the corner of the house. At least he wouldn't be able to see me in the dark.
