"Fuck, I Can't Let This Kill Me, Let Go, I Need More Time to Fix This Problem", chapter 1

"So did you ever possibly think you could make it to this point?" The reporter's question echoed through my head for what seemed like ages but was only a matter of seconds.

Thoughts came rushing through my head within these seconds. Back to when I, Stef, with my long, naturally straight brown hair, slim body and piercing brown eyes, was only 15 and decided to start a band of my own. Along with my three friends, Lorie, our short, black haired drummer, Jenn, who happens to be Lorie's cousin, our tall blonde-streaked brown hair and green-eyed singer and bassist, and Danielle, our crazily streaked hair, brown-eyed tag along, who films little videos for us and basically just hangs around. I of course, if you didn't guess, play the guitar in our little trio, plus one. Now it was 14 years later it the year 2008 and we were 29.

The name of our band, which we just randomly made up one day, now widely known around the world is Waiting for a Warning, yeah, yeah we know, are name is based on two Green Day songs, obviously Waiting and Warning. Our second album, Never Stop Running had become huge, sure our first record Kept Inside did alright but the second one exploded.

"Well, every kid dreams of making it huge with their band, but they usually don't expect it, I mean come on it is a pretty big thing to do. So yeah we were shocked when we found out people actually like us, and now we are here to just enjoy some good music and get totally shit-faced." I responded.

The reporter asked other questions and I guess I semi-paid attention, but for the most part I was just eager to get this thing going. It was our first award show, The MTV Music Awards, and we were up for three nods, Best New Artist, Best Rock Band, and the Viewer's Choice Award for Best Video by a Group.

The last question he asked us before we were to continue down the red carpet was, "Who are you looking forward to seeing here tonight?" I perked up and said, "The one person that I know here, besides these guys, Mark Hoppus." He was there to present the lifetime achievement award to The Rolling Stones. "I love that kid," I continued, "Oh my God there he is now, that's pretty weird. MARK! MARK! GET OVER HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT!"

Mark came scrambling over beside me and I put my arm around his shoulders as he did to me. Sure we hardly knew each other but we were the only people that either of us really wanted to talk to in that whole place. If you didn't know, Mark is the Singer/Bassist of the former Blink-182 and of his awesome new band, (+44).

They shut the camera off and we joined back up with Danielle who was waiting on the sidelines. We walked into the building and the four of us were completely in awe, I mean we had watched these awards for many years and now we were here. We checked where our seats were and it turned out we had better seats than Mark, but we decided to put him in one of our guest seats, seeing as how Danielle took up one of them and we still had two left.

The awards started and I have to admit I wasn't paying attention at all; Mark and I were talking the whole time, making stupid comments about performers and presenters and laughing pretty damn hard. Hilary Duff actually sent her "people" down to tell us to shut up, but that just made us laugh even more.

The first award we were nominated for came up, "Best Rock Band." We actually shut up this time and listened to Pete Wentz announce.

"All of these bands are amazing performers and are defiantly terrific live, so here they are the nominees for Best Rock Band."

The screen began to play the video for the nominees. "The nominees are: Weezer, Good Charlotte, Waiting for a Warning, and Our Lady Peace."

Pete Wentz began speaking again, "And the winner is," He opened the envelope, "Wow I love this band, OUR LADY PEACE!"

It was a bit heartbreaking but they deserved it, they have been making music for a number of years and plus we were still up for two more awards.

The night continued on and then finally our second nomination came up. This time Hilary Duff was on the stage presenting. She began, "All of these bands are just exploding into the scene and will surely have many years of success in front of them, the nominees for Best New Artist are:"

The screen played its video, "Best New Artist. The nominees are: Eleventyseven, Kept Down, Loop Hole, and Waiting for a Warning."

Hilary continued, "And the winner is...WAITING FOR A WARNING!" We literally jumped out of our seats. We hugged each other and we hugged Danielle and Mark and shook people's hands as we walked towards the stage.

When we got up there Hilary handed us the Moon Man. Jenn began the thanks. "Well we want to thank our families for letting us do this, our producer Josh, everyone who helped out at the studio, My Chemical Romance and Green Day for inspiring us and umm Lorie say something."

Lorie yelled into the microphone, "WOO! THANKS TO JESUS AND DANIELLE AND EVERYONE WHO HELPED AND SUPPORTED US!" what can I say, she was excited.

Finally I finished, "I wanna thank that dude over there," I pointed at Mark, "Mr. Hoppus for being cool and hanging out with us today, umm thanks Danielle, and like Jenn said thanks to all the bands that inspired us, and umm I guess people can't tell us to stay quiet now." I caught a quick glance at Hilary and laughed and I could see Mark trying not to burst out laughing himself.

Meanwhile in Oakland

Tré, Billie Joe, and Mike were just hanging out in front of the television at Mike's house.

"Why is there so much crap on?" Billie complained.
"Because the TV is like 'hey you know what I think Billie is a jerk so I'm gonna piss him off by putting shit on and then maybe he will get up and leave me alone," Mike stated.
"Shut up or I will beat your face in with a knife," Billie snarled back.
"Whoa, Bill calm down," Mike laughed.
"Wait, wait Billie go back, wasn't that the VMA's?" Tré half-yelled.

The TV was showing the winners for best new artist and the Green Day trio seemed quite intrigued.

"Oh I know this band, I have their CD's," Mike said.
"Since when?" Billie asked.
"Since I heard about them, their name is Waiting for a Warning."
"Hey, that's two of our songs," Tré paused. "Whoa, did you hear that they thanked us, ha we rock."
"I concur," Billie and Mike said simultaneously.
"Wait, who's that one? What's her name? She's pretty hot. Tré pointed towards the screen.
"Umm, I think her name is Stef, she plays guitar," Mike answered.
"OH! You know what we should do? She knows Mark so we can call him up and be like, dude you should come over for like a dinner party and you should bring your friends from the VMA's. And then they'll come cuz they love us and I'll put on the ol' Cool charm and we'll have some fun, if you know what I mean."
"Yah I don't think that's gonna happen, she likes to get to know people before she jumps in bed with them," Mike answered.
"What the fuck, Mike, how the hell do you know that?" Billie asked.
"Well in their CD it tells you to go to a website and they post movies and blogs and stuff and that's one of the things she wrote about."
"Well we should still invite them over." Tré noted.

Back in L.A.

We were led offstage and had to hang out backstage for a while before returning to our seat. By the time we got back Mark had already been called up to get ready to present the award to the Rolling Stones.

As we were sitting there Danielle poked me and said, "You like him don't you?"

"Who do I like?"
"Mark."
"Yeah of course I do he's cool"
"You know what I mean, you [i]like[i] him."
"Well maybe a little."
"Stef likes Mark, ooooo he's married you know." Jenn piped up.
"I know that but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to have a little crush," I replied.
"What? Stef likes orange flavoured Crush." Lorie jumped in.
"What the fuck Lorie, no, Stef has a crush on Mark." Danielle told her.
"Okay can we stop talking about this now?" I asked.
"Look she's blushing." Jenn laughed.

It pretty much went on like that until Mark showed up on stage and started his little speech. The long hours leaked on until finally the awards were over. We didn't end up winning the Viewer's Choice but hey, we had some good times that night. For about 40 minutes we had to be in pictures and get interviewed, then we met back up with Mark and headed off to a bar for our own celebration.

A Couple Hours Later

I was totally smashed and I knew it, I could hardly walk. Danielle, Lorie, and Jenn were pretty drunk too but I must have had at least 10 more drinks than them. Mark isn't a big drinker so he was there to watch over us and make sure we didn't wander off with some dirty rapist.

"Whoa, whoa, Stef I think it's time we get you back to your hotel." Mark mentioned.
"Alright, whatserver you shay Marky." I slurred.
At that point he left me on a chair and went to tell the others we were leaving, I'm sure they made some sly comments afterwards.

We made our way outside and Mark hailed a cab. One finally stopped and we got in, I had previously mentioned where we were staying so Mark told the driver and we were off.

When we arrived at the hotel, Mark paid the cab driver and proceeded to help me up to my room. The second I laid down on the bed I was out like a light.

The next thing I knew it was morning, I had no memory of the previous night, my head was throbbing and some unknown man's arms where around my waist. I tried to move my head to see but it was no use. Whoever this dude was he was defiantly good at spooning, he had nice arms, what can I say. I could feel him starting to stir awake. All of a sudden he began to kiss the back of my neck. At this point there was enough room for me to turn and see who this was.

"Holy shit! Mark!" I screamed and rolled off the bed in surprise.
