Buggerfacation, chapter 2
Charlie and Frankie were standing outside the school listening to Wake Me Up When September Ends on Frankie's walkman through one earphone each.
Charlie looked up and saw the bus pull up at the stop.
"Kat's here" she informed Frankie.
Kat stepped off the bus and raced over to them that smug smile that Charlie hated so much etched across her face.
"What the hell are you looking so happy about?" Frankie snapped.
"Never get tickets huh?" Kat replied waving three pieces of paper in front of their faces. "We're gonna see Green Day! We're gonna see Green Day!"
Charlie screamed and snatched the tickets out of her hand.
"No way!" she cried. "Oh my God Kat! You're the best!"
Charlie was sitting infront of her cupboard sorting through all of her clothes.
She had never actually realised how incredibly terrible they were untill she needed to pick something for the most important night of her life.
Maybe she could get her friend AJ to help her customise something.
AJ was always good at that.
Charlie knew one thing was for sure.
She was going to wear her lucky drumsticks in her hair.
They were black and Charlie had stuck little silver sequin stars to them.
They looked awesome in her hair when she twisted it up on top of her head and shoved the drumsticks in like chopsticks.
She turned around and looked at her Green Day poster.
"I cant believe I'll finally be meeting you's guys!" she squealed excitedly. "That's if I can ever find anything halfly decent to wear."
Charlie handed the boring black button up shirt to AJ.
She had attemped to make it look a little more interesting by pinning her favourite badges it but failed.
"Cool" AJ said tucking her long blonde hair behind her ear thoughtfully. "I'll see what I can do with it and I'll have it back to you by Friday."
"Thanks" Charlie smiled.
The concert was on Sunday.
Charlie left feeling happier than she had ever possibly felt.
Charlie ran as fast as she could to the train.
She was late and she didnt want the train to leave without her.
That would really suck seeing as she had gotten her hair to look perfect thanks to about 20 cans of hair spray and her top looked excellent with all the coloured safety pins and chains and all kinds of random junk hanging off.
She jumped on board the train and spotted Frankie and Kat sitting not far away.
"Finally Charlie!" sighed Frankie in relief. "We thought you'd never make it!"
Charlie sat down on the chair across from them.
"Whoa! You look really good!" Kat smiled. "And youre wearing the lucky drumsticks! Cool!"
Charlie nodded happily.
This was brilliant.
Charlie, Frankie and Kat jumped off the train.
Kat knew where she was going because she was always in the city.
She knew the place the the back of her hand.
She was leading them further into the city where Charlie knew Thebarton Theatre was and stopped at a main road.
There was a small break in the traffic and Frankie and Kat ran across the road.
Charlie hesitated but then followed.
As usual it was her that completly stuffed it up.
Who split her head open while trying to hang off the top bar of the swing set?
Who fell into the lake on AJ's birthday at the adventure park?
Who fell into the pool at school and broke her wrist?
And who got hit by a van while crossing a main road trying to get to a Green Day concert that she had waited for all her life?
There was a screech, a beep, a scream and a thud.
Frankie spun around to see Charlie lying on the road bleeding from her head.
"CHARLIE!" she screamed running to help her. "Sarah?"
Charlie looked up.
Noone had called her by her real name for ages and it sounded weird.
"Im fine. I really am. Ow. That hurt!" she said dazed. "Oh great! My hair! That took ages! And-"
Charlie shrieked and pulled a half a drumstick out of her hair.
"Oh no!" Frankie cried.
"OH MY GOD IM GOING TO KILL THAT-"
Kat jumped up from where she was kneeling next to Charlie and ran to the front of the van and knocked on the window.
"What the hell is wrong with you-" she began but stopped mid sentance as the door opened.
"I'm sorry! I was being an idiot I didnt see her- I really am sorry"
It was Tre Cool looking absolutely petrifyed.
The passenger door swung open and Kat swore that she would faint if she wasnt so angry.
"Is she alright?" asked Billie Joe worriedly running around to meet them. "She came out of nowhere we really didnt mean to hit her!"
"I think she's fine" stammered Kat unable to believe that Green Day... GREEN DAY were actually stranding here talking to her right now.
Charlie was actually on her feet again clutching her head and holding the broken drumstick in her other hand.
Tre ran over to her closely followed by Billie Joe and Kat.
"Im sorry! Are you alright?" Tre asked Charlie.
"Oh God. I think Im hallucinating!" Charlie moaned.
She reached out and touched Tre's shoulder and withdrew her hand quickly.
"Oh my God" she whispered. "Youre really- You hit me?"
"Yeah" Billie Joe answered.
Charlie blinked again.
"Shouldnt you be doing your concert? Dont worry about me. I'll be fine" Charlie assured them quickly.
Tre still looked worried.
"But you got hit pretty damn-"
"Dont worry" Charlie grinned. "I'll be fine. I promise"
"Are you going to our concert?" Billie Joe asked spotting the badges on Charlie's shirt and Kat's wristband that sported the Green Day hand grenade.
Frankie nodded.
She didnt know what to say.
"Can we give you a ride then?" Billie Joe asked DIRECTLY TO HER!
"Um" Frankie said again but soon realising her mind was blank except for the tune of redundant being sung in doo doo doo doo doo doo doo's.
"It's only a few blocks" snapped Charlie.
Kat guessed that you'd kinda go off your favourite band when they ran you down in their van.
