Dr. Bernadett was inspired by his father, a family physician who was sometimes paid in tamales and was devoted to serving his community and teaching medical students and residents. After graduating from UCSF School of Medicine, Bernadett practiced anesthesia in Southern California until transitioning to the practice of pain management. He later earned an MBA as health systems grew increasingly complex and his role in leading groups of physicians increased. Bernadett and his wife Dr. Martha Molina Bernadett recently funded The Faustino and Martha Molina Bernadett Presidential Chair for Medical Education at USCF, an endowment that supports curricular development to address the challenges and opportunities involved in caring for the increasingly diverse population of California and the nation. The Bernadetts have also endowed a scholarship at UCSF for Spanish-speaking medical students.
