Sgt. Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band.
As most of you know (or I hope you know) that one of the greatest and most innovative bands, The Beatles, came out With Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band. Today is the 40th anniversary!
This album changed the way music was played, listened to, and seen throughout the world. If this album had not been created many of your favorite bands might not exist. Every track on the album is unique. Some songs are quite deep, while others light-hearted and fun. Take the song "A Day in the Life" (one of my many favorites). No one had ever done anything like it. John sings on the beginning and the end and talks about problems and issues of the current times. Meanwhile Paul adds some insightful lyrics in the middle to connect John's parts. The way it was sung was amazing, but the orchestra and other sound effects make the song that much more amazing. And the whole part where John sings about 4000 holes in the street is so simple yet so powerful. Sort of like how people make a big deal out of everything, until it's blown so out of proportion it just becomes pointless.
I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in blackburn, lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
This album also kicked off "The Summer of Love (1967)". This was a time where freedom, peace, and love were not only reconized, but celebrated. This album opened up a whole new culture and vibe in world. The Beatles covered almost every genre there is; they were so experimental in everything they did. They did ballads, "heavy metal" (for the time), love songs, rockin' songs, and basically everything you can think of. They strived for the best song they could produce, something more bands should do.
Tracks:
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. With A Little Help From My Friends
3. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
4. Getting Better
5. Fixing A Hole
6. She's Leaving Home
7. Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!
8. Within You Without You
9. When I'm Sixty-Four
10. Lovely Rita
11. Good Morning Good Morning
12. A Day In The Life

A Day In The Life takes me on such a trip. The bits when the orchestra builds up... it still gives me chills now, after hearing it so many times. The first time I heard it it actually scared me. It was like I was weighted to the chair.
That little bit at the very end of the album, that looped bit, that still scares me XD
The Beatles had something going on, alright.

I still don't get why this album out of all of those The Beatles recorded became the classic one to which everything is measured against. Sure its got some classics, such as A Day in the Life, Lucy In the Sky and Lovely Rita but there's an awful lot of crap on there, too. Good Morning Good Morning, When I'm Sixty-Four... even Harrisons' contribution sucks for once (Within You Without You).
As an overall album, aswell as being based on the individual songs, I find Abbey Road far more complete. Something, Octopus's Garden, Come Together, Here Comes the sun, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight, Because, I Want You... its an incredible record. That's not to say Sgt. Peppers sucks, because it doesn't; its a great album... just Abbey Road is far better.
I Am the Walrus is on Magical Mystery Tour, by the way. There's a version of it on LOVE but every song on there has been edited away from the original.

i am the walrus is on beatles love but according to my family the orginals sound different so i'd go for the original one on another album.

This album has one of my favourite artworks. I haven't quite listened to it yet, but it gets recognition just cause of the artwork.

One of the things this album revolutionized was album artwork as well. Prior to this album; albums had lame covers. They weren't expressive and they well dull. This album changed that. Greeeat record.
