The "Rich Kids"
I go to a public school, where, in general, most of the students do not come from upper class families. But there are a few students who come from pretty rich families. They can be pretty nice, but looking at their Ralph Laurens, and my Gap jeans can make me very uncomfortable.
For example, one girl is always talking about how bad public schools are, and how she would've gone to a private school, but the one we go to is a more "convenient location". I want to scream "At least you have a choice!"
She also constantly talking about her latest hobby: sailing near some uninhabited island in the Carribean, archery, diving. All the hobbies my parents could never afford. But with her lawyer dad, the only question is "Which resort in Florida should we stay at?".
I honestly would have no problem with people with more money than me, but when they rub it in your face, it's near impossible to ignore. Plasma TVs, luxurious vacations...all the things I'd have to work hard to get, someone else can get in 10 seconds.
I do understand that plasma TVs are not necessary, as well as Carribean islands, and private schools. But the way they just have to complain about the color of their Calvin Kleins is just sickening.
Now comment away.

I don't think all people who are well-off act this way. I think the fact that it's a public school means that I'm not used to people talking about their wealth this way. But complaining about how horrible our school is, is inconsiderate, since she knows that it's all some people could afford.

I feel like the minority when I run into these blogs, cause I am what you would consider a rich kid. Wealthy children often don't try to rub it in your face. It's their way of life, it's how they live, and if they can't decide which hotel to stay at, they're going to complain like you would complain if you couldn't find your favorite shirt to wear that day. And don't ignore us. That's like denying a whole social class even exsists!

some people make others feel inferior to have themselves feel more powerful, superior. Damn my facination with psychology and philosophy. Just ignore it, or rub them the same way. Let them know you just dont give a damn about them and/or their money. Its that easy. Parents have a large impact on their children's personality, and how they think and act, so if the kids act a certain way, it might be that they have picked it up from their parental unit.

Try to ignore them.

I'm the same as Red Flag...if I even get new clothes. I haven't gotten sh*t in years. And I'm on my own with clothing I want, so yeah, let's just say I'm wearing the pants I've had since my freshman and sophomore year of high school. It really bugs me, because it's gotten to the point where they're so baggy they start falling down when I walk.
And I agree with vonny also. It really does depend on how the person was brought up. I have some rich friends and they're some of the best people I know. They care more for others than they care for themselves. Then on the other end of the spectrum, there's my aunt's nephew (my second cousin) that's rich as can be and he treats everyone like sh*t because they're "not as good" as him in anyway whatsoever. It's gotten so bad with him that my Aunt took in a foreign exchange student just to teach the spoiled brat some manners.

As annoying as some "rich kids" can be, some are nice. I think that sometimes they are often neglected by their parents. Imagine living in a big house with a servant and everything you've ever wanted. Sounds good right? For the most part yea, but sometimes to become that rich your parents work a lot and you rarely see them. As cool as it would be, it would be lonely in my opinion.

I have a friend who's rich as you would say. He goes to a private school and all that, but, he's not stuck up or anything. He doesn't talk about how much money he has or clothes and that. In actual fact, he wants to go to a public school.
I think it all depends on how the person has been brought up by their parents.
