No, not just because it’s trendy. Eleven reasons why I hate Abercrombie & Fitch.

First of all, I hate the store not the shoppers. I am not trying to tell anyone how to dress but this is just my opinion on it. And no I have never been into the store. I have been on the website though and flipped though a catalog.

1. 98% of there models and employees are white- they seem to think only white skinny blond people are pretty. When people started criticizing them for the lack of diversity, they hired a small amount African American models. However these models have very pale skin and almost appear white.

2. They have shirts that are offensive to Asians - In 2002, controversy erupted over shirts featuring caricatures of Asians and some other ethnic groups. One shirt featured the slogan "Wong Brothers Laundry Service”Two Wongs Can Make It White". It angered many Asian costumers and displayed negative views on Asians. After many boycotts they did however drop the shirts.

3. They make woman look like sex objects- the store sold shirts that said stuff like "Who needs brains when you have these?". That pretty much says “it’s ok if your stupid, girls should just have big boobs”. It’s offensive to many woman and says to men that woman are stupid.

4. it’s way overpriced- if it was not made with slave labor or it was great quality it would be fine. But it’s not, it’s way overpriced. You can pretty much get the same crap at target for 40% of the price.

5. It’s conformist and it just makes you look like everyone else. - the only reason so much people buy it is because it’s trendy. It’s not really creative or good quality.

6. It’s unfair to heaver people. “ it comes in small sizes and many people say they where a bigger size then they normally do when shopping there. Most of there employees are very skinny as well.

7. Everything is branded with “Abercrombie” on it- I know many clothing stores do this, and it’s fine if they don’t charge 30 extra dollars because of it. Not to mention most of the cloths are very plain. The annoying thing is EVERYTHING says Abercrombie in big bold letters, its like paying to advertise them.

8. it’s a clothing store, but it runs peoples lives. - People treat it as a lifestyle, people think it will instantly make them popular and sexy. I hear people all the time saying “oh my god I don’t have anything from Abercrombie!” like it ruined there life or something.

9. They sell sex, even to 10 year olds-. A&F sells thong underwear in children's sizes with the words "eye candy" and "wink wink" printed on the front. Most people would agree that’s a bit disturbing.

10. it’s boring/unoriginal - go look at some of the stuff they sell. Now is that creative? Is that artistic? Have you not seen cloths like that before? Changes are you answered no to these questions. It’s fine if that’s what they want to sell, but is it worth paying 30 extra bucks for it just so you can say “I have something from Abercrombie” I think not.

11. A&F Quarterly “ it was a magazine-catalog sold from 1997-2003. in 1998 it had directions for a drinking game, not only does that encourage drunk driving but most Abercrombie shoppers are under 21 (the legal US drinking age). Other then that it was pretty much a porn magazine, but available to people under 18.
