24th November, 2007 - The Day Australia Died.
Australia officially died on 24th November 2007 - The Federal Election.
When this man, Kevin Rudd:
Got into office as the 26th Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia.
In the words of the great Chasers: Kevin Rudd is a smug media slut.
I cannot. Stand.Him.
Bring back John Howard, and do so immediately.
Don't give me any of that 'Oh you only hate him because Green Day hate their government' Nonsense.
Our previous Government was one of the best the country has ever had. I have been a Liberal supporter ever since I can remember.
I believe that the Labor Government will ruin Australia's economy, once and for all.
Sorry, I just needed to vent this somewhere where someone might actually listen to me/read it.
LIBERAL FOREVER!

I'm no massive John Howard supporter.
But to me, Kevin Rudd's just a 'smarmy bastard'. Not to mention - look at his Deputy Prime Minister. Julia Gillard. That woman is one of the most single-minded/plain annoying people to enter politics.
Kevin Rudd's policies are majority left wing. That said, it means middle class or higher families could be put at risk. He's promised too much - and where does all this money come from? Taxes. And taxes have to go up. Damn.
Then there's his lies in the campaigns. The stuff about federal governments not putting enough money into schools? An absolute lie. State schools are the state's responsibility, not the federal government.
And the Kyoto Protocol doesn't necessarily mean anything. If the biggest producers of greenhouse emissions aren't going to sign it, then little difference will probably be made.
The only positive I can see to Rudd's policies is his withdrawal from troops in Iraq.
Sure, Howard was in government here for a relatively long time, but look how well Australia's been doing because of it! Our economy's just going to fail now. As a country we'll be in serious debt, just like when Gough Whitlam was in power.
Free laptops for all?
Just think about how much money that's going to cost us.

I don't hate Rudd because of his ads, or because 'he's annoying'
I hate him because I hate the labor party and everything that happens when they're in government.
I'd choose Costello over Rudd anyday, and I'll still choose whoever gets to lead the Liberal party.

The problem with the Kyoto Protocol is basically that the worlds heaviest polluters, the US and China refuse to sign it as it would affect their economic performance. And yes they are focusing on the here and now and not the future, there won't be much in the way of economic performance for anyone if we don't do something.
As a Kiwi, although Howard wasn't the brightest spark on the planet, I do have to say that Australia has performed well on a global economic scale, standards of living are much higher than they were. I'm a little nervous about how Rudd's policies will affect the economy as I know quite a few Kiwi's who migrated to Oz for the better life, I would hate to see things change for the worse for them and indeed for the country as a whole. Sometimes it's better the devil you know and not to go for a radical shift.

Actually, while I think about it, I just want to make a point about Kyoto.
Don't kill me: I think it's a dead policy.
We need something more to help stop global warming. I mean yes, Kyoto would HELP, but it still won't stop the phenomenal effects that Global warming will have.
And Costello? I've met him: Lovely bloke. Really, he's a nice guy.

I, like Teddi, agree on some points.
The Kyoto Protocal is a good thing to be signed and for that, I thank Kevin Rudd. But, like you, he annoys the hell out of me! All the liberal/labour campaign ad's made me SO annoyed. I was just about ready to send a letter to Canberra to tell them to stop otherwise I would, well I don't know but that's how much they annoyed me.

I agree in some terms, but take a look at it this way- he's going to sign the Kyoto Protocol. John Howard wasn't going to, most likely because Bush isn't going to.
Signing the protocol means we will still have a world to have a Prime Minister in. Besides, Howard was going to retire sometime after and leave the position to Costello. Do you really want him as PM?
But i'll stop bugging you, know, evetyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Nice way to treat your family eh Rudd?
