Giving Up Something Major In My Life...
Hey guys. This is my first blog entry.
I'd like to let you all know I've decided to give up smoking. I went to a Pharmacy yesterday and he's told me to start today and gave me some patches. I'm going to need some support from you guys. I was also wondering if anyone on here has successfully given up smoking before, and would like to give me some advice?
I currently smoke 20 or so a day and am really trying to give up.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck!
I have no idea about this since I've never smoked, but yeah.

I used to smoke. I was extremely stupid and started when I was 13. I quit within a year though, so it really wasn't difficult for me. And I didn't smoke 20 a day. But, none the less, I quit, and you can too. You're making a very smart and healthy choice.

That's why you don't stop just flat out.
Like I said, take it slower, like keep on sucking on halves or fewer cancer sticks, so you don't suffer complete withdrawl, then every few days, lower the number until it's at Zero.
It's harder to quit if you just stop all together, you've gotta like ween yourself off the habit slowly.
lmfao, ween.
I think I used that wrong.
Oh well.

You might want to decrease the amount of cigarettes u smoke a day by like half at first, then decrease it by like 1 or so a day after that. Is Chantix available in the UK??that stuff makes u quit in like a week or so, from what i've heard.
GUM helps too!!!! or Solitaire to keep ur hands busy.
GOOD LUCK :D

Thanks everyone. I've gone through my first day wearing patches. And I admit it's been hard.. But I had like, half a pull from my friends' cigarette. Didn't really want it though, just stressed wanted to see if it made me feel any better.
I'm suffering bad from Nicotine withdrawal now. :(

If you don't wanna relapse or something, try cutting it down to like half a cigarette or something, or losing like 5 or 6 a day.
Then just see how it goes.
But if you find that you're craving them again, just find something else to take up time and distract you or something.
Good luck quitting and things.

Oh, man, quitting smoking is hard.... This might not help you, but what I did when I quit smoking before was took up a new hobby to keep me preoccupied when I wanted to smoke. Kind of takes your mind off it. My mom just quit smoking and she took up exercising XD Anyways, good luck.
