Cookie-Cutter Girl

We've all felt it at one point or another - like we're just another face in the crowd. You don't know who you are, you don't know what you like - you've completely lost yourself. I know, especially teenagers, feel this way sometimes. You wake up one morning and go "What have I become?" That's what this poem's about.

It's not set up like my usual poems, but I hope you enjoy it!

Cookie-Cutter Girl

Every day is falling. Every day's the same. Everybody's watching. Though they don't know your name.

Never so familiar. The sensation you feel now. You're feeling so misguided. You're another face in the crowd.

You scream out loud. No one blinks. You care even more now. About what everyone thinks.

Your tears fall to the ground. Not even making a sound.

You look like everyone else. From your head to your toes. Who you used to be. No one knows.

You forget yourself. Were you happy back then? The last time you smiled. You can't remember when.

You've died inside. Who were you before? Whatever it was. You weren't this, for sure.

And who are you now, as you walk out the door? The answer is simple. You're a cookie-cutter girl.
