Elliot Minor: Manchester Academy 2: 9th April 2008.
For once I’m just going to review the gig, and just say that before it me, Lizzie [GSB] & Lottie [Mibba] had so much fun and after I got a kiss off Teddy so I’m nice and happy xD
Furthest Drive Home was the first of the support bands. They were actually really good, started on time and were simply amazing and likewise with the Higher. Both of them were quite good support acts. Although they weren’t the most amazing two bands in the world, they interacted, got the crowd going and were amusing [The Higher and their virginity joke xD].
But now…Elliot Minor. Wow. It’s the fifth time I’ve seen them live and wow. From Alex getting on top of Teddy to Ed forgetting the words, and even Alex doing the rock symbol back at me. Ali got dragged to the front Dan was at a mic and Teddy talked a lot more; they were all so friendly with the audience.
The day of the gig, a live lounge performance took place where Rule the World by Take That was covered…they tried and failed to recreate it, with Ed forgetting the words, Alex calling him a pussy and a stage tech/roadie had to hold up a piece of paper with them on.
Playing both a mixture of well known songs [Jessica, TWOIE, Parallel Worlds] to less known ones such as Lucky Star, Running Away [The Ed Minton is gay song] Sometimes You Are Wrong and She Gets Around, they definitely were for everyone from obsessive fans to ones who just came to see the support acts.
With enough energy to power the entire North side of Leeds, they’re amazing to see live. Alex was ill, with a sore throat, yet kept on singing and Teddy would not keep still as he ran between his own and Ed’s side. See, they have a standard layout. Alex is in the middle front, Ed is on his right and Teddy is on his left. Dan is either behind Alex or behind the middle of Alex and Teddy while Ali is behind Ed.
