Would it be so hard?
This Blog has probably been done before, but I figured one more wouldn't hurt. My main source for this Blog would be the movie "11th Hour" which is a documentary about this subject or "TFK" ( "Time for Kids" ) which is a magazine we read in school. Enjoy.
As pretty much every person on Earth knows by now, the world is getting warmer. This is Global Warming. What people don't get, is that so many trivial things lead up to it. Things we think don't matter. But even worse is the fact that we know about these things and do nothing about them.
Okay, so we can't build environmentally friendly buildings yet because we're only teenagers. We can't exactly stop toxic waste dump either. So what? Even if we can't do these things, the adults and important people in our world can. The sad thing is that they won't. Too many people are ignorant to the fact that our homes and lives are toxic and dangerous, and they're too materialistic to give up possessions and money that they don't need.
Would it kill you to spend a little more on an energy-saving light bulb? I'm sure that money was going to buy junk-food anyway. Would it be so hard to take a shorter shower? It's possible to take 5 minutes or less to clean yourself. And possibly the best thing you can do is to tell people about this cause. We don't have much longer to make up our minds. We only have a few decades, if we're lucky, before the human race is completely sucked into a downward spiral. So do us all a favor and, if you know anybody who has a big influence like a governor, mayor, or somebody like that, tell them about this. It's definatly worth it.
In "11th Hour", a scientist stated that, if we don't change, the world could possible become like the planet Venus. The temperature could reach a terrible height, and harmful gasses will choke the planet. One this anybody would know about Venus is this: There is no life there.
It seems impossible and scary, but it's true. Over 50 species die out every year. Some day that'll be the human race, that's for certain. But we have the power to decide how soon that day will come. I'm not saying that you have to change your entire lifestyle. Just do your part. Please.
Thanks for reading.

I agree with Eileen's (threeam.) first sentence.
But if we do try to stop this, at least we'll live for a few more years, right?
Everyone, turn off your lights!

You and Mindy are pretty much right, threeam. We are screwed, to a point. We've already taken years off of the human race's life span. But if we really work hard (which probably won't happen,) we can stop it from dropping even more... Hopefully.

Part of me thinks we're screwed and yet the other part is thinking "We can make a change if we really bust our asses."
I had to watch that movie at school. It scared the living piss out of me. I hate how this generation is left to deal with the problem when we never even started it.

Hun, that's happened.
We doomed ourselves by inventing fossil fuel run appliances. Around the 19th century, coal was burned to power everything. Chimney sweeps were common to clean out the smoke and filth in chimneys they were used so much. Steamboats also used alot of coal.
The by-product of coal? Smoke. Smoke = smog. Smog = pollutant that breaks the ozone, increasing temperature.
We've already doomed ourselves.
I do agree with you though on our part. On my street we have state maitenence up untill a certain point, then you see trash decorateing the side of the road.
My brother and i have started a neighborhood wide thing where we take trashbags and clean up that stuff on Sundays and recycle what we can.
It's not much, but it's something.
