Animal Abuse

Ok, I know the immediate reaction.
"I would never do that to an animal!"

We've all seen, or at least heard about, the shows on Animal Planet. Animal Cops Houston, Detroit, etc. We've seen those images of starved dogs or cats. Or that horse who broke his leg who the owner just miracuously "didn't notice." I'm going to be pretty straight-forward with this. Animal abuse is wrong. Period. I mean, really. Who the hell comes home so mad or so aggravated that they just wanna hit the first animal they see? And what do you get out of it? An animal that is scared shitless of you. Oh, congratulations, you hit an animal. Do you feel better? Most likely not. You're probably either still really pissed off or you feel like shit for hitting the animal.

Then, they're those who let their pets starve/dehydrate. Would kill you to put a bowl of kibble or water down? All I have to say to those people is this:

IF YOU DON'T WANT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF TAKING CARE OF AN ANIMAL, DON'T GET A PET. IT'S NOT THE ANIMAL'S FAULT FOR BEING HUNGRY/THIRSTY. IT COMES NATURALLY.

And for God's sake, those idiots whos pets get injured and they don't notice. Here's an idea: watch your animal. If it is walking around with a limp, don't blow it off like "Oh, he probably just hurt it running/jumping. Nothing big." At least get it checked out. And I'm not talking like, if it's something that none of us could pick up on. I'm talking obvious, blatent injuries.

I don't think this counts as animal abuse, but the only acceptible time I would ever hit an animal is if it were attacking me, or somebody around me. This would only be in a self-defence manner, if it came down to hitting.

The point is people, if you can't afford the needs, don't want one, or aren't mentally stable enough to have a pet,

Don't get one.
