Parents, Teachers, Goverment
Don’t you think it’s funny how many people do what they get told to do. How people change their opinions and their lives to accommodate others. Since when is it fair to even think of asking anyone to change and become the “in” thing. People often change their lives, their minds and their opinions- Because they want to. Not because they must.
Parents, teachers and the government seem to be the worst culprits of forcing people to change. Parents give their children a talk about the facts of life and how they should be in the future. If the child goes against their parents because they want to “ their generation, friends and their hobbies get blamed of leading them astray. But has the parents ever blamed themselves for their children biting back, have they ever blamed themselves for being so demanding?
Teachers often give lessons on racism, peer pressure and the effects of drugs and alcohol. But what they don’t teach is life skills that some children need more than a lecture on how their lives should be. Experience in various jobs should come before the lectures of having a family and providing for it, you’ve got the rest of your life for it.
The government also have a huge approach on change. “ If you do this you’re a yob” That’s not very fair when every single young person is tarred with the same brush as those who are causing troubles, experimentation in drugs and alcohol seems to be a lot more common because everyone is either doing it or is being accused of doing it. Old people are apparently scared to go out at night in case they get attacked. For one, I don’t think that’s the case at all. It’s another excuse to blame someone else for their generation not being as open and acceptable to the lives of people. Gordon Brown has also named the youth generation as being binge drinkers. He hates them apparently. But would that be the case if his own children were drinking? In fact no it wouldn’t, because they’d be sipping brandy and smoking cigars or “herbal”
We all have the power to change for ourselves but most people change because they don’t want the lecture of disapproval from parents and teachers. Its best to do something your happy with than leading your life “their way” because it isn’t your life. Living your life by someone’s expectations can make you crack under the slightest about of pressure and criticism. But why would you want people who are more like the suits. So next time your looking into a mirror, ask yourself this “ Am I being me, am I doing the things I want to do or am I being brainwashed into thinking this is the life I need.

and hey, i do agree with you on how like muslims come into western countries and expect to have right to practice their religion, but god pless you if you go into their countries and try to live your own way... not a change!!! they'd probably execute you. it's not like i wanna sound racistic or anything. it's just that... your country your rules, right?
if you come into my country please dress like people in here, do not wear veils and sh*t. cause when we go into their countries they expect us to behave like they do and live on their rules. so why don't they have to do the same in here then? it truly sucks ass, doesn't it now?

I like this article. My parents are like that, and they want me to be 'normal'. If I want to go to an underground guitarist's concert, they say "Oh, why can't you be like other girls and see a pop boy band?", or "Why can't you shop and wear pink like normal girls?". It drives me crazy.

I agree with what you said, you gotta stand on the outside to see in.
In my mind not too many people matter, no teachers or parents anyways, so I really don't give a crap if what I want, say or do offends them. It's my life and I believe I have the human right to do what I want with it.

My family is pressuring me to go to college, because without college you'll get nowhere. Its bull to me, I'm not going to college. And I really don't care what they think, Its bad enough they won't even settle the fact for getting a G.E.D. School just isn't my way.
Great Article, I'm glad someone wrote this.

In my book sometimes you have to be an outsider to see things how they are.
i've known so many people who once stuck their neck out for what they beleived in, then all of a sudden it all goes down the sink because it would offend other people.
Look at Britian. Most shops don't sell christmas decs anymore in case it offends other faiths, at primary schools in scotland ( experience) kids aren't alowed to sing xmas songs, read xmas books, make tree decorations in arts and craft in case it offends those who do not assosciate with Xmas.
All of a sudden it's became this huge problem, that every year celebrations are being thrown into chaos of those who don't believe. How about the people who don't believe in ramadan or any other muslim festival - it might offend them but there's nothing they can do about it because they would be called racist.

well, you're right about that yea. people are weak so they often conform.
i'm trying as much as i can to stay true to myself, but it's hard sometimes.
sometimes staying true to yourself means that you have to be an outsider.
