*Armstrong

For as long as I can remember, *Armstrong have always had the same reviews upon their myspace. There’s little originality anymore, for when they appear on any site the same ‘Kerrang!’ and ‘BBC’ quotes appear before any of the reviewers give their opinions. Sure, if you’ve got it, flaunt it…but please…I think we need a fresh look on the situation that doesn’t involve the words: ‘"Tornado of Infectious Pop-Rock Melodies’.

I merely discovered the boys back in early May 2007, looking up the support bands for Elliot Minor’s first gig at the cockpit [May 19th 2007], and thought from their myspace that they’d be “a laugh”, they seemed to be noting special, but live they simply blew me away.

A good band has been built on strong foundations; steady and ready to take on the world. There’s no worries about how rocky things may turn when it’s a band based around friendship. Willing to take a break for personal reasons, they’re just as eager to get back in the studio and even keener to be out at a gig somewhere, rocking your world.

Enough energy will keep them going from the moment their day starts to the split second it ends, giving music the well needed kick up the ass it often needs. The talented group of lads let their influences shine through as they throw their own unique twist into the mix.

There’s something special; you can place your finger on it, and it’s called *Armstrong.

Tim, Jay, Harry, John, Scourge.

Seeing them live thrice already, there’s a bond with fans that can not broken; many a time I’ve seen them randomly about Leeds and they’re not afraid to get down and dirty.

Truly making a gig into a party, they know how to make it into a good evening and not just some music event. Fans are used to their advantages to create atmospheres at gigs that will leave you wanting more each time.

They’re a refreshing look upon a genre that has been visited so many times before. Somehow they take it and make it their own and not anyone else’s.

With many gig dates already lined up there’s an opportunity to see them across the UK this winter and hopefully soon, the world.
