Sexual abuse
Almost every day we hear that some kid in our area or a person in a newspaper in a magazine has come forward about knowing that someone is a sexual predator or being the victim of sexual abuse.
Only the other day I was confronted by a little woman who was asking for help, I asked her what was wrong and she burst into tears and told me a very painful story of how her own husband had been sexually abusing his grandson. She said that her partner at first denied the child's accusation then admitted it, but this got me thinking. What if this wasn't the first time and he did it to his own children. Of course the woman was embarassed that she had confronted a complere stranged over her problems, but at the same time at least she spoke to someone.
We all know someone who has been the victim of sexual abuse and sometimes people don't come forward because they are scared. But look at that little boy who told his parents " me and grandpaw have a seceret" He knew it was wrong.
Children being sexually abused by people they knew is on the uprise and often its brushed under the carpet by families I think there needs to be harsher sentences for those who allow it to happen. And more support for victims and their families.

I know exactly what they get done to them in prison and all I can say if they can dish it out. they deserve it.

Some people here said there should be harder punishments, but honestly, I don't think it'd do much difference. Even death penalty doesn't deter people from commiting crimes. Most rapes, murders, abuses and so on are acts of impulse.
I don't know much about prisons in USA, since I'm Swedish. Here, the guilty person goes through a mental examination. If they're proved to be "sick in the head", they will receive forced care, maybe for the rest of their lives. I think it's good; it both prevents them from doing something similiar again and with that helps people feeling safe, and helps them on the way back. People who do these kinds of things are not just anyone in the crowd. They're so lost, and probably as sad as the victim and his/her relatives afterwards.
These ethical questions are really hard :/

honestly, I think they should chop their balls off.

They are obviously mentally disturbed and shouldn't be let off so easily.
Theres where the question arises from. They do have issues in the head. Do we punish someone for commiting a crime if that they only commited because they're sick in the head? We do, but should we? I honestly have no idea.
Anyone who destroys a young person's childhood in such ways deserves punishment. However, their punishment is SOOOOOO much worse then what you may know. I persionally believe it is too much punishment. Yes they deserve prison time and to be registered as a sex offender for people to know about.
However, do you know what they do to child molestors in prison???? I'm not talking what their formal punishment is, I'm talking what their fellow prison inmates do to them. Sexual offenders and child molestors are at the absolute bottom of the food chain in prison. They're increadibly likely to be raped by anyone in prison with them, nearly everywhere. Often times they're even killed by their attackers. The physical and mental torture of child molestors in prisons is worse then what the US government does to terrorists. Yes they do deserve their prison sentence, but I dont believe they deserve what they really get.

It's really hard to serve harsher punishments for these people as a lot of them are trialed on insanity and mental illnesses. It's really difficult for justice to be done, when the person is given ill benifit. Although I can understand why there is a leniant sentence for those trialed on insanity- they weren't in their right minds at the moment of action.
Abusing a child sexually is mostly done to make someone feel superior. Children are one of the most vulnerable groups in society and are easy to manipulate. It's horrible.

sexual harassment is disgusting and vile on every level, and i agree with reject08, there does need to be a harsher punishment. potentially ruining someone's life and sense of worth. it's sad that the victim's stay silent though. i wish i could help every single one of them. it's sickening that human beings can do it to other people, but even more sickening that they can do it to a child. f*cking sick. good blog. i'm going to stop here before i get uber mad

I know what you mean, what's worse is to see the people who did it to you walk by the street every day.

There definitely needs to be harsher punishment for these people. These stories are pretty devastating. I had a friend who was sexually abused by her step dad when she was still in elementary school. He got away with it because she was just a kid and thought that if she told he would hurt her and her family. Children are so venerable and innocent, I don't understand people who take advantage of them this way. They are obviously mentally disturbed and shouldn't be let off so easily.

I'm sorry it isn't as long as I hoped it would be. But I didn't have a lot of time to write it.
