Jon and Kate Plus Drama
Jon and Kate Plus Eight is a reality show on TLC. It features parents Kate and Jon Gosselin, who have twin girls, Cara and Mady, and sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Collin, Aaden, and Joel. It has been regarded as one of the highest rated shows on TLC, and is currently in it's fifth season. However scandal and rumors have began to surface about Jon and Kate, and many questions regarding their marriage and the way they parent their kids have come up.
One of the first rumors to surface was that Jon was having an affair, after pictures surfaced of him partying with various women, and then leaving with one of them. Both Jon and Kate haved denied these allegations, stating the the woman was a "close family friend". According to Kate, this rumor will be discussed in the new season of the show.
Another allegation that has surfaced was that Kate had become too "diva-like" and demanding, after a rumor came out that she once fired 40 nannies in a single month because they didn't meet her demands. After that rumor came about, many more popped up, such as a family friend had gave the parents a 14-person van for free, and Kate had returned it because she didn't like the color of it, which was burgundy. Questions about her intentions to continue the show popped up as well, as well as questions about her parenting abilities.
Questions about the children came about as well, one of the most serious ones being that the children are being put under rediculous amounts of emotional stress. Child labor laws began to come into question, and Jon and Kate allegedly had to be investigated to decide if the show was breaking said laws. Kate has defended her children, saying that the children are not in any danger, and that they are perfectly happy, while Jon has stated that they are "in talks" about the happiness and well-being of their children. Kate's brother and sister-in-law have gone on record as saying that they believe the show should be ended, and that the children are being exploited.
Season 5 of Jon and Kate Plus Eight opened on Memorial Day, and throughout the episode, Jon and Kate were interviewed seperatly, being asked about the rumors. The episode ended with both parents on the same couch, and being asked "What happens next?" Kate stated that she "can only speak for herself" and that "she believes she is doing what's best for her children.", while Jon stated that "he is here for the children." Season 5 is already drawing hype from the audience, who want to see the couple discuss these rumors.

I think society is f*cked up, and this is one of the reasons. It's like, if you have a bunch of kids, you're automatically in the spotlight. I learned that in Nazi Germany, the more kids you had the higher rank you were, and if you had 15 you got a gold medal, something about continuing the greatness of the country or something. I don't really know why, but the John and Kate Plus Eight and Octomom things really reminded me of that.

I think that Jon and Kate are crazy.
no need to explain.

I think everyone needs to leave this family alone.
For the sake of the children.
Kate's not a monster, she's doing her job.

I love this show. :(
BUT, I do think that the children are being exploited. I really think this should have stayed a one or two show special.. not a series. This is a family, and showbusiness is not a place for a family. Everything automatically becomes more dramatic once placed in front of a camera.. so I really think they should end the show and Jon and Kate should focus on their marriage and family instead of the paychecks.

A lot of good points have come up as far as critics opinions go:
1) Kate said probably six times on her show that life "was just so hard". Oh really? Why don't you ask a family whose parent has just lost their job, and now it's tough for them to put food on the table every night. Then see whose life is hard. She gets all of these pedicures, and buys all of these expensive things and nice clothes for her 8 kids, and it's like... Get a grip.
2) She says "I ask my kids to call the papperazzi 'P-people' because I don't want them to say 'oh, the paparazzi followed me to school'. That's, like, creepy." Sorry, hun, we've watched you get a tummy tuck, Jon get hair transplants, and your kids get potty trained. You documented every second of your children's lives from birth to present with camera people in your house. That's creepy.
3) She says "When your kids call you by your babysitter's name... It hurts." Then stay home with your kids. Seriously, you go out to eat every day, you go to these book signings and all of these public get-togethers... These kids need parents. If she knew that, she'd put them before all of that.
They've just lost touch with all reality. They take the money the earn on the show for granted. They wonder why- when they've documented their whole lives on TV for five years- suddenly everyone's so hypocritical and why these rumors are just popping up. They need to suck it up and give these poor kids the attention and parenting they deserve. Even if it means not making as much money and turning off the cameras.
The disappointing part is I used to love this show and think that Jon and Kate were a perfect couple. The only reason I would ever consider watching it is because of those adorable kids. Because Jon and Kate need to just pull themselves together... It's sad, it really is, it's saddening what's happened to them. But they should know when enough is enough, and I just don't think they know.

I'm not saying cheating on your wife is the solution to anything, but if you've ever seen this show, you'd know why he did it. The show may be causeing some internal family problems, but its also paying for a ton of the family's expences. Every time they go out for a vacation or whatnot, they pretty much get in for free. Say the Disney World episode: they go there for free, and Disney gets free publicity. Not to mention all the money the family is paid for being on TV and having their show.
If the show were to continue, thats fine. Ever since this new drama came about, they have recieved all sorts of negative attention from news media and crap that really isnt doing them any good. Sadly, people taking pictures and digging into your life is the price of fame.

If all of these rumors are even close to being true then the parents need to pull themselves together. I feel bad for all the kids. I wouldn't be able to handle growing up around so many cameras.

Attention needs to stop being brought to this family.
Cameras need to back off.
Journalists need to back off.
People discussing it in general need to back off.
Then it will fix itself.

Kate needs some prozac. And a reality check. Or maybe an agent if she wants to go all primadonna. Jon obviously needed some sex. And evidently...he got it? Stupid, overrated, overhyped...TLC is just gonna find a better family for a better show anyways.
Addison Dewitt, May 31st, 2009 at 12:47:08am
being a parent of 1 or two is stressful enough, let alone 8. the last thing they needed was a camera to follow them around.
they seem like a nice family from what I've seen (I've only seen two episodes), and I really hope the drama doesnt break them up.
They should definatly end the show.
Woodrow Derenberger, May 31st, 2009 at 12:06:34am
Yeah, this has gone on too long... It was amazing at first, but now, it's just overrated... they're being turned into a big deal.. I think that the media just needs to back off and let them live their lives in peace and hopefully they'll reconcile and get things straightened out...
I do think that this has gone on way too long and that they're done with in terms of the TV show.. it's ridiculous..
Barney Stinson, May 30th, 2009 at 11:26:04pm
I think they should be left alone. thoes kids don't need this bad publicity,
