Long Time No Type…
It’s been a while hasn’t it? Well, not really; I am here daily after all. But it seems like ages since we all had a good natter with some cookies and hugs. Maybe some of you reading this don’t know me; hi, I’m Kate. I used to be an active GSBian; to the extreme that I once spent around 27 hours online in one go, but now it seems that this is just a passing fancy; I assure you it’s not…it’s not that I don’t want to be here, it’s that it’s hard to find a spare 15 minutes to have a conversation.
I’m 17 going on 18; final year of sixth form [college] before I head off to Uni in September; there’s A Levels to prepare for and, shock horror, I have a social life. The nights that I manage to have off are dictated by parties or gatherings or even a trip into town; an evening off no longer includes me spending time at the machine I work so hard at.
When I do come back to GSB, I suddenly feel quite old; May 19th will be my 4th anniversary upon this site. I remember the big issues, the journals, old GSB and the censorship debates. I could sit and write down a million and one people [okay, maybe a hundred or so] GSBians who have been part of me growing up.
There will always be a special place in my heart for you guys; friends, commenters, silent readers or anyone whose passed by me while I’ve been on this site. Sure, I disappear off after posting the facts, but it’s not because I want to; it’s because I need to study. All the time I’m online I’m either doing a maths test paper or revising from my physics text book, or even copying out chemistry notes from yesteryear. There’s so much to do, and even as I type this I’m constantly thinking about my work load; coursework, papers and just plain old homework.
One day the facts will end. When I go to university I’ll have to hand over the responsibility of the iFod. The sheer level to which this pains me is astounding. Even if someone does take over, I’ll miss googling for all of our amusement.
If anyone ever wants to get in touch you can email me [the address is on my profile], or add me on any of a variety of social networking sites; even send me a PM. It may take a while, but I promise I’ll reply.

i understand that schoolwork, especially as you go higher up, has to take a priority over things...but why must you pass along the facts?? i don't understand that.........

My 4th year is coming up as well. And this is weird, but like, I will never forget you. A lot of the time when I think about GSB, random user names come into my head and you're always in there somewhere. + Your facts are pretty much one of the best things about GSB :D

Aww.
This is sad. And I was the same last year. I just finished school so I'm hitting up GSB again like there's no tomorrow. But there is. I'm off to uni in 2011 too. =/ BUt i'm having a year off, and there's really nothign in the world I need more.
But you're right. I feel old too. July is my 5th year. o.o
And btw, I remember you, even though you've been away.
