I don't know if this is a duplicate thread or not (sorry if it is). What do you think about marriage? I used to not believe in it, but now I do. I think that it is important because it teaches you how to unconditionally love and get along with someone. If you can negotiate with your husband or wife then you can get along with others. *don't kick the shit out of me over this thread*

I wholeheartedly agree with it.

It's not like you have to do it anyway.

I don't believe in marriage, if you love someone you don't need a piece of paper to say it? It's like a security thing. I also believe that you can think your meant to be with someone at the time, love them more than anything but you never know how things will turn out. People change, I don't believe your neccesarily meant to spend your life with just one person.

By signing that bit of paper, all your doing is making things difficult for yourself if you do break up and basically signing an agreement with the law. It doesnt change how much you love someone.

Then you get people getting married to 'mend the cracks' in their relationship. Bad idea "*grits teeth* I'm happy, really I am!!"

i agree with you 50%. cuz im like half n half about the marriage thing. cuz like marriages never work 100%, there's always arguements and stuff. but it's cuz they know they're bound under the law that they should make it work. that's why there are families. but true about the not needing a piece of paper to show how much you love someone.

marrige is to prove true love under Christ, it is a man and a woman, it's a sacred thing...and it's a religious thing for you stupid atheists that protest for no good reason

so I beleive that it's religious...since it is biblical, so if it's true love, and you want to make a promise (to your god) that it will last forever go ahead
if it's true love and you want to promise your lover it will last forever...say it, they shouldn't require you to marry to prove it

but God does...so yeah...many people forget that or simply ignore it because it would get in their way of protesting

i agree with spillnosick. legal marriage is a bunch of crap. all that matters is what happens under the eye of God.

Meh. I guess I'm not sure what I believe. Marriage isn't what it used to be, now, most people get married way too soon and it ends in a divorce. If you're truly in love with someone and know you'll be with him/her for the rest of your life, it's up to you to make a desiscion. Personally, I'll probably get married, but I won't want a huge wedding. My friend wants this huge, stereotypical wedding with the beautifull, expensive dress and the 1600 guests 0.o

I believe in Marriage just for the simple fact that by signing that legal paper you are tellign the person I love you so much I want to spend the rest of my life with you without an easy way out...I am however an athiest and do not want a wedding in a church i want one on the beach lol but yeah i will most likely have one in a church because the guy I hope I will get married to is a christian...oh well, long time from now

i agree with avantidrummer. If you want to get married, go ahead but marrying the other person isn't going to make the other more inlove with you or even more faithful. But i think spillnosick went to far. I am christian and i dont think you have to marry the one you love in order to please God. And spillnosick doesn't have the right to call athiests stupid just because they they protest, maybe it is a good reason to them, plus, you dont have the right to judge anyone, only God can judge. Or in athiests ways, who cares what you think about me.
