Is the family dead? Do you think it's necessary anymore for people to marry? How do you see the family in 50 years time?

Um...
I don't believe marriage is dead. Unless there's something someone hasn't told me.

I've just spent weeks studying this in school...IMO, marriage doesnt really make much of a difference to a relationship, after all its just a piece of paper.

Marriage is like love...overrated, and just asking for trouble

.......and don't get me started on 'family'

Marrige is techincally meant to be a religious celebration. (It was invented to become one under Gods name)

Henceforth, I believe only followers of one of the specific religions should marry.

i dont really see much of a difference that marriage makes except that you get tax cuts and your pregnancies are looked at as blessings as oppossed to sins.

I don't know. Marriage is something special. It depends, though, but most people agree.

I want to get married. I think.

I wouldn't say marriage is dead. It depends how you look at it.
Marriage, to me, isn't really a big commitment. You're married, big wow, you can get a divorce, no big deal. It's having kids that matters.

OMG, they killed marriage!

Nah... But I think the term "marriage" needs some re-definition.

i think people should do what they like. but to me marriage can make a family. who would want there parents able to dump each other at any time. marriage means i want to love u forever no matter what. it's one of those things u do when u love someone so much. marriage matters and it should matter for a family.

I agree. I was brought up in a Christian home (nope, not gonna preach), so the whole idea of getting married and raising a family was taught early on. Having said all that, when I got out on my own I ended up living for about a year with the guy I ended up marrying and having two terrific kids with. We're still together 24 years later. I'm not saying it's always smooth sailing, but we manage to work things out.
