First, my dad and stepmom.
I used to be a conservative homophobic bitch.

Then my mom.
Liberal on everything and I hated God.

Now they're me.
I have conservative and liberal political beliefs.
I believe in God, but I definently have my qualms with religion.

Nothing we believe is really ours. We've been conditioned since birth, although when we reach a certain age we tend to branch out on our own and form different beliefs.

Ive never really been that much into politics. My parents have never been all 'Blahblah, God is great' or made me believe in something. I did read the Bible and i was all religious at a time but mostly because i was curious and ... well, moral and - well, young. I dont think ive been to church more than three times with my parents. They were there when i was confirmated and when my sister was confirmated. So i guess religously, theyve influenced me. But they've also influenced me in 'not' influencing me. Like by making me decide what i think is right and wrong about this and that.
I dont know xD

Political and socially, I am as opposite to my family as can be.

Religiously...my mom and sister are athetist and my grandparents are Christian; and I don't really have a 'belief'...so yeah.

I agree. I have the total opposite beliefs then my family /friends have. I was never influenced by my family in political views cause when I was a kid I didn't have them and now I am older enough to realize what I would like to be a part of. The only thing that changed is that I was raised catholic and now its a bit different.

There are certain philosophies that I have come up with on my own, but usually I've found out that somebody else already thought that one up. Otherwise, it is mine.

How could you have been homophobic if you're a lesbian?

It's not uncommon. Whether homosexuals who start of homophobic are repressed, in denial or just haven't come to terms is based on the individual.

unless you make up our own religion or political party or something, beliefs can never be 'yours'

I think I've always believed in God. My first school was a Catholic school, because the public schools where we lived were shit. So even in kindergarten, they taught us about God and made us watch those Bible story cartoons.

But at the same time, my parents would take us to the temple. But we moved when I was six, so I didn't really have much Christiain influence. It's mostly Hindu. My parents would tell me stories about Ram and Krishna and we'd watch those mythological movies and whatnot. And later, when I was upset, I somehow started praying.

I would just fold up my hands and look at the ceiling and talk to it and ask Him to make things better. My grandfather taught me and my brother slokas, so you know how to pray for what. Sometimes, I say those, like I have a Saraswati sloka for when I need to concentrate or write a test, a Hanuman prayer for when I'm scared, and an Annapurna prayer for before meals. But when I need something specific, like I'm really upset about somethign or just really homesick or whatever, I just kind of talk to Him, ususally while looking at my Durga pictures or Venkateswara pictures or whatever. And I thank Him when good things happen. You have to thank Him.

I don't really care whether or not someone thought of my beliefs before me. I just know that they make me happy and that doing what I do gives me hope. I don't think that non believing will send you to hell or whatever. as per Hindu religion, I believe in reincarnation and Moksham

Exactly.
I would of course have to be able to know what I believe in before I vote for someone else who supports those same beliefs.

Being a Liberal Democrat would imply she belongs to the Lib Dem party.
At least thats how I read it.

No, that's ok.
I can see where you would misconstrue that little thing.
