I cant remeber where but i read someone saying that they thought that Green Day were 21st Century Heros due to all of there anti war behaviour and charity work. I agree with this person. What are your opinions.
what can you exactly mean by 21st century heroes?
there can be so many meanings as to the word hero.
they are heros in my heart but...you mean because
they are anti-war and they help with the whole
hurricane relief thing?
I wouldn't go so far as to call them heroes,
even if it is good that they're agianst war.
They can spread the message but...
I still wouldn't call it heroic
I wouldn't say they're heroes just because of them being anti-war,
like someone said, a lot of other people spoke out about it as well.
But sure, they're my heroes anyway.
There's nothing wrong with it at all, it's just that it doesn't fit the typical punk stereotype. Being 'punk' will often mean that you are politically incorrect, or that you're disrespectful towards the law and authority. More often than not, these are the types of people who normally do not contribute to charity. I'm willing to bet that's where the comment originated from.
Being against war is great and all, but there are times when you need to stand behind your country. A lot of people living in America who claim that it 'sucks' don't realize just how good they have it. Of course there are safer alternatives to war, which are preferable, but it won't always come to that. So, are they hereos for being against war and doing charity work? Probably not, that just makes them excellent people. What they will be mainly remembered for, is their influence on music for years to come.
