"Sin is natural human nature, why is it considered dirty? Is nature dirty?"

What are your views on sinning? Do you think we should be able to sin, or we should strive to get rid of all sin in our life? Do you even believe in sin, or do you think [like myself] that you need mistakes and regrets to grow more as a person?

I agree with you. You need mistakes and regrets to grow more...because some people (like me) usually learn by the hard way...because it works. I think it's ok to make mistakes in our lives if it isn't too bad. But I also think we shouldn't go too far and do stuff like...murder people.

The whole idea of a "sin" is mostly religios, so I can't really say I believe in that. I do think some of the things that are considered sins are just something you should not do. Like murder or unfaithfulness ( I mean cheating on your spouse). Although most things that are considered sins, like having sex before marriage, are totally fine with me.

I wouldn't kill, cheat or steal, simply because I don't think one should do that, and because it will make me feel uncomfortable about something I've done. Not because it's a sin. So, I think you should be at peace with yourself and try ro respect the freedom of others.

(Another messed up comparison of mine) I listen to someone's music because I like what they do, I don't care whether they are punk, mainstream or sell-outs. So, I don't steal not because it's a sin, but because I think that's wrong. And if I do steal, I will feel bad about doing it not because it's a sin, but because I will feel that I've done something that I believe should not be done.

Besides, like everything else in religion, sins are also a hypocritic measure. If someone kills a human being - they are a sinner and will burn in hell. Then again we praise those who have killed a shitload of people at war, we call them heroes. So, maybe not every homicide is a sin, there's always circumstances. Everywhere.

Just do what you think is right.

Am i the only one who read this topic title as 'Shinning?' Very Happy

One thing i strongly disagree with is the theory of 'Original Sin' (the kind that every human being is born with, and must be cleansed of at baptism). I find it the fact that if an innocent, newborn child can be tainted with Sin from birth slightly disturbing, and one of the reasons i dont beleive in it.
Also, who here can define sin? things like polygamy within the catholic faith are seen as sinful and wrong but other religions celebrate polygamy. Also, pre-marital sex has already been mentioned.
Everybody needs to make mistakes, if not only to learn from them and gain experience. If that means i burn in hell, then so be it, i'd rather lead a sinful life and die wise and happy than live a sheltered life and die chaste and pure and filled with regret for a life i never lived.

I'm thinking right now that "sin" is relative. You can only "sin" if you go against your own personal code...if you go against someone else's, it's their hard luck. If you go against society's, then they either slap your wrist, badmouth you or clap you in irons.

Some "sins" prohibited by the Bible are cool, lke no stealing or murdering. But "thou shalt have no gods beforeme"? Wow, want some swelled head to go with that ego?

this is a very odd topic.

A human was designed with flaws, we are meant to sin, so yes we are all sinners....BUT if you ask forgiveness for your sins and learn from your mistakes then it's ok.

Yeah, I always thought that's absolutely rediculous...I mean, I know where it comes from and all, but I think it's pretty damn stupid. What, if a kid dies before baptism - he'll go to hell or limbo? Besides, it kinda means I'm already a sinner and who cares if I sin more...

How can you say that though? As far as we know, they MAY be someone out there who is society's idea of perfect. We will never know. We don't know everyone in the world.

bullshit. perfection is perception. I can look upon someone with all their attributes and think they're perfect, and someone else can come along and decide they're a complete fag, if you want.
we all find different things attractive and not quite so, how do you define 'perfect'?

because perfect has a different definition to different people in different societies for example, perhaps for someone to be perfect in the catholic society that person would have to be a part of the catholic religion and do all that God wishes them to, however, that same person, although perfect in their own society would perhaps not be considered perfect to one of another religion because to be perfect to them they would have to be a part of THAT religion. ie.someone can be perfect to one person, or a few people, but no one can be perfect to everyone therefore we cannot define perfect as one particular... thing.

im really not good at explaining things, but i try...
