It depends on the person. I have 'talked' online with many people, some of which i would be quite afraid of meeting in the real world. I would say to you this: Dont be naive, and go with your instinct!

Not nearly as dangerous as most of the over-30 community make it sound. Most internet chatters are intelligent enough not to get into shit they can't get out of, through one way or another. There's crazy crap out there, but I manage to keep out of most of it.

I have taken to misselling my name on certain sites so I don't get flagged by the FBI. Funny story about that, actually, I'll have to tell it to you sometime.

LoL, I remember this girl got arrested 'cuz she had a picture with a gun in her profile and she was like 15, and a cop saw it and then eventually they found her and arrested her 'cuz she didn't have the license for the gun, or something like that...

A lot of people scream about how dangerous it is to look for people on-line, while in fact, meeting people at bars or discos is in many ways more dangerous. At least on-line you have the advantage of getting to know someone before you even concider meeting them in person...And it's great for people who are shy in person and can't just come up to someone and say "Hi!"

There are people out there that prey on guilable people through the internet, be it meeting up with someone or giving money to a made up charity.

Be alert but i would hate for the internet to become a nanny state where your every move is watched with the excuse its for your own protection.

the computer i use at school is right in front of the admins office, so if something i need gets blocked i shout through the door that he's taking my freedom away from me, and he unblocks the site for awhile.

we have hector on our school computers, so if any "naughty images" come up on the screen you click hector and he covers the screen for you until a teacher comes and saves you.

yeah. remember when i was begging a url from justin...? or werent you there? really i just wanted to know how they made the site work. i have a slightly odd need to know the secrets of the universe.

i like talking to people on the internet. i know some pretty cool people pretty far away because of it.

and theres a difference between talking to people and meeting them.

I don't give info like my address out. Even for comps cos they ask for email anyho. Either no address or a made up one or just the city. That's about it really. But you never know who you're talking to sometimes.
In my opinion, you find a lot of liars on the net. I mean if you can say a lie as simple as: "I'm wearing Cons." (Which I'm not) Then it could be just as easy to lie about your whole goddamn life, sex, age watever.

I think it's not at all dangerous to talk to people on the internet.
There's a difference between talking and giving away details and meeting. I would never meet anyone without knowing for totally sure that they were who they said they were. But talking... it doesn't really matter. On sites like this if you talk to someone who freaks you out you don't have to talk to them again anyway, so that's not too dangerous

but the fact with that is, lying about your entire life, its highly likely they'll make a mistake in their story somewhere.

I don't think talking online is that dangerous--as long as you're careful.
And lots of people only have online friends, so it can be a good thing.

Depends on who's talking and how they talk. For example, my cousin was "looking for a good guy in the chat" when that guy asked her where she lived... Yeah, and my cousin was stupid enough to give the guy her address.
My cousin told her friend and the friend also gave the guy her address and told him they'll be at her house.
Minutes later, the guy knocked on the door and the two girls opened it and saw the guy was black, old, and horrible. Next thing he did, he took off his pants and showed them his genitals.
They ran and found a cop.
What I'm trying to say is that: It can be dangerous, but it really depends on you and just you.
