Brainstew scratch

okay you know how in the chorus section of brain stew, the guitar makes a screechy type noise?

i got tabs to it, they said you palm mute the strings, but that doesn't sound right, then i read somewhere that you're supposed to scratch it?

anyone know how to do that?

I'd live to know too.... maybe you scratch you string with your pick...

that was the first song i learned how to play, and i teac myslef so i just do it how i think it sounds right so i kinda mute the strings and scratch them kinda at the same time and u have to listen to it to get it pretty much

If you have distortion on your amp....that makes it better...

my amp's pretty basic unfortunately...just bass, treble, and middle adjusters, plus volume, and gain...and the boost button. damn...like, it kinda sounds right if you just palm mute it, but it kind of falls flat, you know what i mean? like, it should buzz more or something...

down the bass, up the trebble. up the gain and up the volume.

strum as if normal but put your palm on and off the strings randomly

put your fingers on the strings, but dont put any pressure on them, and if it still doesn't sound right, try palm muting it as well. But plenty of overdrive and distortion will help =).

yeah i just tried it out, and it sounded best, with my bass and treble both around 5, and gain and distortion high, using my treble pick-up (neck position, humbucker) and just resting my fingers on the strings without applying pressure.

same. well, i went ovr 2 my friends house 1ce n she had a guitar n she let me fool around wit it wen she wuz in the bathroom so i sorta got it, but i wuz thinkin wht that last note wuz, apparently u had 2 go bak 2 the 8th fret. but then i lookd it up on the net. count it as learning it ur self, or not.

I just hit the strings really hard

When I learned it I found out if you play the chord and then during the 2 beat gap play the same chord but dont put your fingers on the fret space all the way so its a harmonic sound chord.

Try muting the strings (as explained above) Then scratching the strings with the side of your plectrum...Works for me.

im not sure what i do but it don't sound that bad.
