technically no, a religeon is defined by worship and/or belief or being more powerful then oneself, therefore an anti religious cult would resent the worship and/or belief that there is sumething more powerfull than them, thus believing that the human race is the most powerful force, poeple who go around saying that they believe in satan and do not believe in god havnt done their homework because satan according to literature cannot exist without the presence of "god"

but is a religion not based on the shared beliefs of a group of people?

a religion is a system of believes, it doesnt have to involve a superior power.

Exactly. You don't have to be religious to believe something.

I may have misunderstood you here, but in theory, where there are so many different religions, all of them are in some way contradicting the other.
Like, with atheists and any religion, the religion could say atheists were anti-religious because they dont worship a God (I'm not sure if I'm making sense here)

So in theory, couldn't any atheist (and there are quite a lot) be considered anti-religious? And they are in the overall community, so...

I wouldnt call them anti-religious, they arent protesting religion, they just choose not to follow them.

Yeah that's what I would think, but I've heard some religious people calling atheist against religion, so they could be considered anti-religious

Yes, but not all atheists are like that, most find religion foolish and just dont abide by any. I know atheists, they dont go around constantly bashing other religions, they dont care about them.

On the opposite effect, there are groups of people who do violently protest religions, especially the Christian faith. Really, by organizing all these anti-religious belifes, they have created a religion.

*Religion m'dear. Sorry but it was annoying me.

And I don't know, because no matter what you do in anything, there will ALWAYS be a group of people who protest it. So..

Alrighty folks, we seems to be struggling with a definition of religion here, do i've taken the liberty of copying and pasting from www.dictionary.com

1 A- Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
B- A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2- The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3- A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4- A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

And don't confuse Atheism with anti-religion. Again, I would like to refer you to the dictionary, which states that atheism is the disbelief or denial of God(s)

If there is indeed a specific group of people who go against all religion, I've never heard of them.

While i'm on a roll...
Cult:

1 A- A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.
B- The followers of such a religion or sect.
2- A system or community of religious worship and ritual.
3- The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.
4- A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.

5- Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.
6- The object of such devotion.
7- An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest.

I don't see what cults have to do with Authoritarian Governments...
