In relation to the argument of "The artists are losing money because of it", they wouldn't even notice the tiny amount they lost through downloading. They don't get the money from cd sales- they get a lump sum from the record company and then get added amounts from ticket sales.
All in all, music piracy: Not bad.
Also- to whomever asked if I downloaded Green Day's stuff- I downloaded American Idiot to see if it was worth buying (all their other cds have been gifts over the years). I'll always download an album first, then if it's worth it, I will buy it.
Do you think record companies Just pull these amounts of money out of a magic hat? How much money an artist recieves is based off of the record sales.

Yeah, and in addition to that, they don't just get a lump sum, it's a loan, that they have to pay back through record sales.
i download a new cd and if i like it i will go and buy it, i will then keep the original in good condition because i will play the copy, that way no one really looses out,
